Ideas for the week after Lizy-sur-Ourcq

We are staying near Paris Disney (no interest n Disney) for a week in November. I recognize that it will be a trek in to Paris, but we are determined! We were thinking of taking a train to Barcelona after the week in France.
Would you do it? Or would you just add additional days to France? We were considering total trip, 2.5 weeks. We will have a car for a bit, but planned on the train , when going to Paris. We are not old, but, not young :) So, we have a few big trips left, and lot's of places left on the bucket list!

Thanks for any ideas,
Marie

Hi,
Any reason why you are staying in Lizy-sur-Ourcq? I am assuming there is one, such as free accomodation, because the train into Paris gare de l'Est takes 1 hour each way and isn't even direct.
As for the rest of your itinerary: where do you plan to go in France besides Lizy?
If you end up goind to Barcelona: it deserves a 4-night stay at least, to do it justice, and if it's not too late you could look into flying into paris and out of Barcelona, to avoid backtracking.

Yes, free lodging, so I'm trying to work with it. We did plan to fly in to Paris, and out of Barcelona. We will also have a car to drive to Reims, and Burgandy (again , an hour each way), but won't be taking that in to Paris.

We are just going to take it slow, and try to see great things, while not getting stressed about what we miss. I'm sure that there are so many great spots, that this will be a preliminary trip to narrow down what are the "musts", for next time.

Thank you for the input,
Marie

You’ll be “living like a local” out there in Lizy-sur-Ourcq, another wonderful way to experience France and prove that life exists beyond Paris. Good for you. Enjoy.

With a car from Lizy-s-O., Reims is easy to reach, so will be the Champagne vineyards. "Burgundy" is large, but you can realistically reach as far as Vézelay and back in a day (3 hrs each way). Much nearer, the medieval towns of Provins (small, less than 1 hour away) and Troyes (almost a city, nearly 2 hours away) are worth a visit too.

Update...we loved our stay, even with the hassle of trains to Paris. Day trips to Reims, a lazy laundry day in Meaux & Trilport, still afforded enough of the city, or at least enough for us. City highlights were Orsay, Le Orange, Eiffel, Monmarte, and Le Marais, Window display & center of Galerie LaFayette for Christmas.

For those traveling to the area, 1) important to note that when returning rental car, go directly to terminal, we lost 1.5 hours trying to figure this out. We picked up easily, but were flying out of Vueling terminal 3 to Barcelona, and did not know to return car terminal 1 & shuttle to terminal 3. Shame on us for not researching more thoroughly. 2) We should have bought 10 pack metro tickets for the 3 days in Paris, to save $, and should have looked at timetable for rural returns from Paris. 3). We should not have used metro during rush hour. Sardines :)
Not complaints, just attempts to help future travelers.

Chateau Le Trousse was very magical.

Thanks to all for advice!
