Ideas for a destination before Paris in November!

We are excited to head to France over Thanksgiving week. Flying in and out of CDG, this will be the 6th trip to Paris (but staying in a new to us neighborhood, in the 17th). Prior to spending 4 days in Paris, we would like to head somewhere for 3 days upon arrival in at CDG, via train hopefully. We've previously done Normandy, Loire, Strasbourg (Christmas markets), and not opposed to returning to any of these areas! Essentially, looking for feedback on what might be a good 3 night location in November ...

Thank you in advance!

I’m not much of an authority on the north during dreary winter, but how about Bruges and Ghent. We went there straight from CDG by SNCF train one year (in June). It was a great little trip.

How about Lille? It's an easy train ride from CDG and back into Paris as well. It's an absolutely charming city with some of the nicest people.

Lyon would also make a good 3 day destination. Interesting dining and we found running around visiting all the traboules we could find interesting.

East of Paris, and within a 2 hour radius by train, are Metz, Nancy, and Trier, all of which are worth a couple days, and all of which have good holiday markets. I rate Nancy as the best, then Trier, and then Metz, but they all are different and quite nice. Besides, each city has it own style and culture, and the histories are fascinating. You could easily base out of Metz and do all three.
