Hello I'm still trying to find out (but not getting anywhere with the train station ) how to get my money back . They told me the strike is ending on the 17 the but I keep reading everywhere that it's ongoing. Does anybody live in Paris that can tell me if the trains are running or not. I don't trust the news stations anymore. I don't want to even go anymore I just want a refund for the train. Tickets and they say the trains are still running but the news says otherwise. Also the hostel I had paid for (Adneiat) is not refunding me anything either. I'm out of hundreds of euros. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi,
Unfortunately, you are out of luck when it comes to refunds. The ICE trains run normally, so you cannot get a refund unless it was a refundable ticket. Do not waste your time trying, the German railways are inflexible ;-). Likewise, your hostel is open and operates normally, so they are not obliged to reimburse you. I do not see why they would.
But there is good news: your hostel, Adveniat, is a 5-10 min walk from metro line 1, which is automated, works 100% normally, and gets you to many sights in Paris (Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Marais...). Bus service in Paris, while crowded these days, is also quite okay.
I would still go, rather than waste hundreds of euros...
Agree with Balso. Calm down and carry on.
On DB web site, the Kaiserslauten--Paris Est direct ICE and TGV departures are now cancelled for 12/19 (though connecting services are available). If you want a refund, apply right away through the same agent where you bought the ticket.
