I think we got a speeding ticket but it's in French - of course

I think we got a speeding ticket in the mail but it's all in French. We don't read French. And we did not receive a letter or email from EuropCar or AutoEurope telling us about it or charging us like we did when we got one in Italy. Yep....international speeders..different drivers I'm just the lucky one who does all the reservations.

Anyone else have this happen and can give me advice on what to do?

If you have the Google translation app, it has a camera feature. Using the camera to scan it can give you a translation. I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket in Europe but ZTL’s...

They would not know who to send it to unless the rental company forwarded you mailing address. Maybe the slipped the charge on your credit card and you didn't notice it. Obviously you need to get it translated. Do the dates match?

I'll check with google translate... the date is the date we left so I'll check the time. I hate doing the wrong thing and I want do make it right

There should be a link on the back side of the ticket for paying with a credit card. And it should recognize you as from the USA, so the info on how to pay should be in English. They're very efficient, those French. You can guess how I might know that.

Maybe the French teacher at your nearby high school could translate it for you.

Or maybe the Francophiles here who are fluent or near-fluent in French if you want to scan it and link it here?

You can’t scan and link, but if you send me a pm, we can work it out—if you haven’t already figured it out using Google translator. Our ticket was payable on line.

Whether you can pay on line or not will depend on which office issued the ticket. Some ask for bank transfers, very common in Europe, not so much here and often quite costly for us. If it asks for a transfer, come back and ask or research how to do it because some people have posted links to very low cost ways to transfer.

Donna,

Google Translate is not perfect but it will provide a "ballpark" translation that will give you an idea on what type of ticket it is.

Some of our forum members that reside in France can provide more detailed information.
