I am just returned from France and looking for a specific serving jar

hi everyone,

At our hotel breakfasts yogurts and fruit salads were served in little single serve glass jars that had a non sealing ( loose ) glass lid. my husband loved them and I thought I would order some. I can;t find them on-line - everything has a hermetic seal or a clamp.

Anyone know what I am talking about or have any ideas that might help me find them. Thanks

KER,

Check your supermarket for yogurt that is sold in glass jars such as OUI French Style Yogurt by Yoplait.

I've seen other yogurts that come in glass jars, and have bought some in the past just so I can keep the jars!

I think I've seen various yogurts in cute glass jars at Whole Foods Markets too.

I found this blog on how to repurpose French glass yogurt jars: Oui-in France.com

Hope this helps!

Edited to add...

You can also find all kinds of jars at IKEA

Ask the hotel where they get them? Maybe they can be had online?

I love the yogurt in those little jars, and even better is the yogurt in the little blue crocks. I have never seen the jars except in France. I did bring home a couple of the blue crocks. You should have brought some of the little jars home with you. The hotel would have just dumped them in a glass recycle bin. Sometimes Costco has little dessert parfaits in similar jars, which we save and use as small wine glasses.

Thanks everyone, I can find similar jars, what DH loved were the little glass lids that just rested on top. Oh well, guess I'll have to go back to Paris to get some... ( Oh darn )

I'll definitely use the french yogurt jars and put Saran wrap on top for now. Thanks

These won't be the same, but you might like them. Some will be pretty large. The ones with red or yellow bases and clear lids are pretty small and hold 6-8 ounces. They are easily found in antique and vintage stores.

What do you want to use them for?

I think the Weck jars are what you want. They come with rubber rings and clamps but you don't have to use them, just the glass lids resting on the jars.

Thanks everyone, my husband just loved that the fruit salad was served in them at breakfast I was looking for a few to surprise him with. Although he did say today he didn;t think he needed to ever go back to Paris he had seen it all. I guess I will be divorcing him. LOL.

I do think the weck jars with the clamps and rings removed will work.

Check Bed, Bath, and Beyond. If they don't have the item you're looking for in the store, check online as they often carry items there that they don't have in the store.
