How to travel from Orly Airport west to Auvers sur oise

Can someone suggest an easy way to travel from Orly airport west to Auves sur oise? I am finding so many different options. I am willing to travel by bus, train, shuttle, whatever is easiest. I don't speak French so I want to find a route/means before I go in july 2015. Thank you

THank you for your replies.

Can anyone comment on this idea:
Take the Air France bus from Orly west to Charles de Gaule Etiolle. Then walk to Gare St Lazare. Take the train from Gare St lazare to AUvers. I think I would have to take a connection since I will miss the fast train without stops. I am coming back the next day.
Would you recommend buying the train ticket in advance?

I prefer not to rent a car and want to try to stay with public transportation.

I have not flown in or out of the Orly airport but to go to Auves sur oise, I would rent a car and get a good map.

We usually fly into CDG and we have found that leaving CDG with a car is fairly easy. Since the map shows Orly farther south in a suburb, it would may be more difficult since you will have drive from the southern suburb where Orly is located to a northwestern suburban area.

Even though you don't speak French, you can still drive in France. We bought a good road map at Barnes and Noble. It was made by the Borch company and is laminated. Many people use GPS but since we are not familiar with that technology, we use a map. Using a car instead of buses, trains, shuttles, etc. will give you more freedom to explore the general area outside of Paris.

Auves sur oise is a little over 27 km from the center of Paris or about 17 miles. It is almost a suburb of Paris.

In terms of transportation. many others will disagree and maybe there is an easier way to do but ,,,we like driving.

Are you going there to see things related to vincent van Gogh? Have fun and enjoy your trip!

By car, take the A-15 autoroute to A-115, and then exit at Auvers-sur-Oise.
It's about 45 minutes from Paris.
I don't know how to get from Orly to the A-15, but with a map, GPS, and prior proper planning you should be able to connect to the A-15.
I would recommend a GPS and a good driving map.
Probably not a good idea to go on Monday, much is closed Mondays and some are closed Tuesdays.

You can also combine Auvers-sur-Oise with Giverny, but it takes more time and more planning.

On weekends in the summer, there's also a train intended for visitors, but this requires additional research/planning on your part. Rick's Paris guidebook has the details on taking the train to there.

If you don't want to have a rental car then you take a train from Gare du Nord in Paris to Auvers sur Oise. On weekends there is a direct train in the morning (which returns to Paris in the early evening if you plan to come back) This takes about half an hour. The rest of the time you have to change trains and it takes a little over an hour. You certainly don't have to rent a car if you don't wish to do so. It is a lovely town and walkable once you are there.

lanius,

To add to the previous post, it's very easy to get from Orly to Gare du Nord. Take the OrlyVal train to Antony station and then connect to the RER "B". That will take you direct to Gare du Nord.

Use the route planner at http://www.transilien.com/?siteLanguage=en. Click on "Type de Trajet" and check on "route with fewest changes".
There is a shuttle bus at Orly that will take you to the Pont de Rungis-Aeroport d'Orly RER station. Take the train direction Pontoise. Get off at Saint Ouen l'Aumone (the next to the last stop).
Take the "H" train going the other direction Persan Beaumont. Get off at Auvers-sur-Oise,
should take less than 2 hours. Trains every half hour at 23 and 53 past the hour from Pont de Rungis on weekdays.
