My husband and I are taking a Rhine cruise ending in Basel on 5/29. We fly out of Paris on 6/4 and plan to spend the nights of 6/1 and 6/2 there, leaving 4 other nights to fill. We are hoping to stash our bags at the train station and spend a few hours touring Basel, then going to Lucerne for 2 nights. We both have ancestors from the Lucerne canton as well as the Alsace Lorraine and Moselle regions of France. Wondering if we should then spend 2 nights in or near Colmar or Strasbourg? We will have had a day tour of Strasbourg and the Colmar WWII museum while on the cruise. We have ancestors from little towns NW of Strasbourg (Dannelbourg, Puttelange-aux-Lacs, Diefenbach, Marmoutier)
May consider hiring a driver, any suggestions for where to stay in Alsace? How to find a driver/guide?
