Last time I drove in France I could pay all tolls with my contactless credit card. In September I will be driving a rental car throughout the Dordogne and between Bordeaux and Sarlat. I understand the rules have changed for Brittany and/or Normandy but I've not heard anything about other parts of France. Does anyone know if I will still be able to pay as I go with my contactless credit card?
Free-flow tolls have only been implemented on the A13 and A14 motorways between Paris and Normandy (and one other motorway that isn't in the region you'll be traveling to). So don't worry. Dordogne is a rural area with no motorways. If you have to use a credit card, it will be to pay for any paid parking in touristy places like Sarlat.
Another option is to use an app like Waze and adjust the settings so you avoid the toll roads. I do this a lot, traveling secondary roads and seeing places most people just pass by. It may be slower, but I like it.
This is the site to go onto.

In Normandy, its the Rouen-Caen-Cherborug route which are all Free Flow, so no need to slow & pay, they'll scan your plate as you pass through.
Enter your license plate and the date range on the website at the end of your trip, or, within 72-hours from the first time your plate was scanned to pay. You'll see a listing of each time your plate was scanned, easy to pay.
In the Dordogne, follow road signs indicating towns and villages rather than apps like Waze which will lead you down dirt roads or even dead ends, thinking they'll save you 1 km of travel.
Direction signs are at every intersection or roundabout. They're the only reliable ones.
