We would like to catch the train out from Paris to Versailles, visit the palace and gardens, then pick up a car in Versailles to drive out to Normandy. Europcar, our preferred car agency, is in "downtown" Versailles (66 Rue des Chantiers) rather than conveniently located at a train station. Can anyone advise how we might most easily get from the Palace to Europcar? Not opposed to walking the 2.2km, but seems a bit silly if they have a shuttle or something we could catch?
The easiest would be to get a taxi. For 2.2 Km it cannot cost much.
People keep on asking about "shuttles" on this forum, I haven't totally figured out what they are, so I guess they are something that doesn't exist much in Europe.
Maybe Europcar would send a car to pick you up?
You can get a Versailles bus route B or Z, both of which are frequent, from the old town centre area near the chateau along rue des Chantiers. Note that the car hire looks further out of town than the Chantiers railway station, don't get off there by mistake because a lot of other people do and that's the name of the stop. If you have any Paris bus/metro tickets left, I think you can use them on Versailles local buses as well.
