Do I need a letter from my doctor about the metal implants? Should this letter be written in English or France? Or can I simply tell the screeners I have metal implants?
Just tell the person with the “wand” that you have a hip replacement or whatever. Never a problem.
You get through in exactly the same way as the US. You tell them.
Some physicians supply implant patients with a card that can be shown to TSA personnel. Not sure if they are multi lingual.
Cards or doctors letters are useless and won't be read by any airport security, no matter what country you're in. They're too easily forged by anyone with a computer and printer.
Just tell the security person you have an implant ( I warn them before stepping through the detector), and point to where the implant is. They'll wand you and then you're good to go.
I have 5 implants and had no problem going through security at CDG. I tell them while pointing to a knee and hip. Of course, you will get the dreaded Pat down.
I've traveled a lot since my knee replacement, but it has never alarmed once going through a scanner, anywhere.
I always tell them anyway, but they never seem concerned.
This would be airports in Canada, US, Iceland, Denmark, France, UK, Italy.
