How to do a trip report.....

I have seen a few really nice trip report links on here to a site where people write reviews of each day and put pictures and videos too. Any recommendation on a site to use? Do they cost a lot? Thanks foamy and all help.

photo,

Are you referring to a Travel Blog? If so, there are numerous websites available for that. One you could look at is Travelpod as it's very user friendly and allows both photos and videos. You could also have a look at weebly, Blogspot or others.

I find that it's helpful to diarize each day when I'm travelling, so that I record the details of each day when things are still fresh in my mind. With that information, I can post to an online Blog at a later date.

I pretty much do what Ken does. First trip I actually kept a hand written journal. Second trip I had the best intentions but I was too tired in the evenings to write.

I use travelpod as well. It's free. I have the app on my iPad and generally will make notes at the end of the day as to what we did, where we ate (if it was memorable) etc. Then I use travelpod on my desktop and work away on it after I get home. That's where the daily notes come in handy - I'm a bit behind when it comes to that as well. I am still working on my 'pod from our trip last Oct! (Almost done - only 5 days left to do...sigh).

Another nice thing is you can work on it offline as well, so if you are on a long train ride, or perhaps on a plane and want to work away at it, you can on your tablet or phone (if you have or take one along with you).

And after, you can share it on facebook and other social media, or if you have friends/family who care to read it, you can send emails to people inviting them to read it. Or you can keep it private just for you!

I've been using Blogspot since 2009. It's free, and easy to use. Depending on Internet availability, I either write on a word processor day by day as I go, then eventually copy it to my blog, or else I write directly on blogspot and save it as a draft until I'm ready to finalize and post it.

A few details to add to my previous post. I use a Word document to diarize each day of my trips (using a small Netbook). I normally include a fair amount of detail, some of which is not transferred to the Blog. As Nicole mentioned, it's very easy to work off-line during long train trips or whatever to keep the diary up-to-date. It's also easy to transfer photos to the Netbook for later uploading a Blog. Transferring photos to the Netbook has the added benefit of providing a backup for the photos.

I use blogspot. It is easy to use, just download my photos every evening ( which then is a back up) then I sit and write the details of our day. I try to keep it light and funny. I write about the things I'm likely to forget, the things we will want to remember. We do it for ourselves like a dairy of our trip. I started it when my parents were approaching 90 years old and I was leaving them behind. I thought it would be great for them to follow along each day to hear what we are doing and see photos of our experiences. When we got home my mom couldn't believe how she could watch our trip as it was happening.

It is all free! I'd suggest you get it set up and practice with it before you leave. For me, it is the perfect thing to do when I go to bed and hubby is fast asleep. It gives me a chance to reflect the day and relax before bed. Years later we enjoy reading them to reminisce.
