Hello! I am trying to decided how much time to leave between the expected arrival of our flight and the train we need to take to Lyon. I would like to reserve the train as soon as I can, but I have no idea how much time it might take to navigate through the airport/customs and then get to the TGV station. Does anyone have some advice? Thank you so much!!
I would want about 3 hours personally. I hate being anxious about such things.
Assuming that you're flying transatlantic, you'll have baggage claim (can take awhile), passport control (likewise), and customs (usually quick), then to the trains (assuming your train leaves from CDG). I'd allow three hours, also considering a possible flight delay.
Flying Icelandair through Reykjavik saves you the passport and customs stages, since you'll have done them in Iceland. The fare may also be lower. But the air travel will take longer.
Thank you very much for your replies - I've done quite a bit of international travel, but somehow have never had to navigate CDG- I've always taken the train into France from somewhere else!
Three hours sounds good!
