Driving from Paris or Vernon ?, thought was to stay 1 night Rouen, 3 Nights Bayeux, 1 Night Dinan, 2 Nights Amboise/ Tours, 2Nights Sariat, 3 Nights Lyon & 3 Nights Dijon do you suggest any changes to the amount of days in each place fo April 2015 regards Steve Farthing. Sydney Australia
There are so many fascinating WWII sites in Normandy that I think 3 nights should work. We stayed three nights a few years ago and we were able to see much of the area (great bus tour). But we did wish we had one additional night. We are going back for that one night in March with 3 nights in Loire Valley and 3 nights in Paris. Hope this helps.
We spent 3 nights in Bayeux in September, and saw quite a bit with a car. I'm assuming your 1 night stays are because you a making a stop enroute to the next place. Remember that 2 nights in a place only gives you one full day, 3 nights = 2 days, etc. Although I wanted to dip into Brittany, we decided to give that up and spend 3 nights in Amboise. I haven't been to Sarlat or Lyon, so can't offer an opinion. We did spend 4 nights in Burgundy, one night in northern Burgundy and 3 outside of Beaune. I could have spent longer, but it was a decent amount of time.
steve,
i would say it would depend on what you want to do/see in Bayeux.
i had allocated 3 full days, but if i had to do it over again, i would easily double it to see more of the WWII sites and a few surrounding towns.
happy trails.
I'd say that the city of Lyon has more to see and do than the city of Dijon, but I assume that you're planning to visit Beaune and perhaps drive around Burgundy from your base in/near Dijon.
We allowed ourselves 4 nights giving us 3 full days, 2 for tours and 1 for Bayeux. We easily could have added 1-2 nights to see
more of the msuuems and sights, and enjoy the Normandy countryside. Hope to return and also visit MSM and Brittany.
