How many hours approximately should I allocate for sightseeing in Bayeux?
I know this depends on individuals greatly… but I am trying to fit Bayeux into a Normandy road trip and need to have an idea.
We won’t be able to see the Bayeux tapestry unfortunately, as the museum is under renovation. Considering we also won’t see the battle of Normandy museum, will 3 hours be enough?
Thank you.
Last time I was there I easily filled 2 days.
The three main sights in Bayeux are the Tapestry (temporarily closed), the museum and the cathedral.
Where are you basing yourself in the area? I'm guessing you will have a car.
You can see the cathedral in that time. I liked their arts museum https://www.bayeuxmuseum.com/en/mahb-museum-of-art-and-history-bayeux/ very close to the cathedral and the cemetery was quite moving. https://www.bayeuxmuseum.com/en/actus/visit-the-british-military-cemetery-of-bayeux/
We spent 6 nights there and it was perfect but we also took 4 day trips.
We will stay one night in Bayeux actually, and move on to D day beaches the next day. But I am trying to figure out how early we should arrive with limited time to spare. So the hours visiting Bayeux doesn’t include outside of Bayeux. When I searched online, all suggest a timeline that include areas around it such as Day day and Caen… etc
Yes we will have a car.
