how long is QR code (pass sanitaire) good for

My wife and I just canceled a 25-day trip to France which was supposed to start on Sept. 28 because we had not received
our QR code in order to get our "pass sanitaire".
Therefore, we are postponing our trip until May of 2022.
My question is this -
Once we do receive France's equivalence of our CDC cards, how long is it good for?
I have heard various accounts of the length of its validity.
Does anyone for sure know the answer to this?
Thank you for your input!

At present it is good until at least Nov 15 -- at which point they may still extend it. It has nothing to do with your trip timing. but it may or may not be required next spring -- or there may be requirements for further vaccinations. No one knows for May 22 --- we are traveling in April of 22 again and have no idea if our current QR code will be relevant then. This decision has not been made.

If that was directed at me -- I did not cancel. I have the QR codes for me and my husband and we will be there October and first week of November -- AND we are traveling again for 6 weeks in April/May and taking our granddaughter who missed out two years ago when everything shut down. We will take her during her spring break and a few days extra and then she will fly back on her own. I am hoping we can do the side trips to Annecy and Chamonix that we did cancel out of this fall. We are planning on a brief side trip to Lyon from Paris this fall -- maybe two nights.

@ dlk4vr, The pass that is issued to a tourist using the online application process is good for the length of the trip. If you said, you would be in France for 5 days, then your pass is good for five days. So for example, I applied for a pass for September 21st to September 27th so my pass is good for 7 days. You can also receive a pass while physically in France. This second pass is good for 3 days and is given to you following a negative antigen test result. If you are going to Paris or any other heavily visited area, it made no sense to cancel solely because of the missing pass. Your CDC card would have gotten you into most places. I have been in Paris a week. I have my pass but I have not seen anyone who flashes a CDC card turned away. I have seen it not be recognized by one person only to have a colleague explain the card. Did you update your application with a note highlighting you planned arrival date before canceling?

Thank you for your explanation of how long the pass sanitaire lasts. Unfortunately we did cancel our trip and are postponing it to a later date. We had 5 cities planned. We were stressed to the point that we figured while in France it might create a very unenjoyable situation if we had to worry about whether our CDC card would be accepted. We have been to France quite a few times and a couple of our friends in France advised us to cancel until a later time. I wish I had read your explanation first THANK YOU FOR WRITING AN ANSWER TO MY CONCERNS!

JHK. I am pretty sure that is not true -- you have a pass and it is good for as long as necessary.

Where are you seeing that the pass expires?

And duh -- I missed that the OP had cancelled.

I have never seen anything about a pass sanitaire expiring in line with any travel dates.

Since the Europeans worked to build a common system, I don't believe there is anywhere within the pass sanitaire that there is even a place for an expiration date to be entered. Nothing like that exists for us living here, and they couldn't have modified the form afterwards when Americans and Canadians started getting included manually.

The French Government was asking for the dates so that they could treat requests in order (whether they ended up doing that or not is another question).

"Where are you seeing that the pass expires?"
I was in France last week and considering extending my trip and I asked the pharmacist when I went to get my Covid test on Friday, September 24th. I was scheduled to leave on the 27th and at the time I was toggling back and forth between leaving on the 27th and staying until October 4th. I asked the pharmacist if I would need to get a temporary certificate for the extra days and she said yes because my pass would "run out" (her words). Ultimately, I decided to return home on my planned date so I flew back on the 27th. I thought she was correct when I answered the OP. Anyway, now that I am back I have emailed for a definitive answer.

that's because your pass was based on a test, not the CDC card. the test only gives you 3 days of the passe.

@ skunklet, My pass that I used during my trip was one that I received after applying online and submitting a copy of my CDC card. However, your response suggests that perhaps the pharmacist assumed, like you did, that I was asking because I had a 3-day pass.

Ah, yes, a negative-test-based passis indeed only valid for 72 hours.

But a pass based on proof of vaccination is good until some undetermined date in the future when they decide that you are too far out from the completion of your vaccination status. But they are not anywhere near doing that now.

Confirming that I was initially incorrect and that the health pass that one receives after applying to the website is valid indefinitely. Below is the text of the reply I received this morning in response to my question about the duration of the pass:
Hello

Your pass has no time limit and you can use it in any European country.

best regards

You discovered that many people give an answer when they know or not. WE just bought an external charge for our Iphone that the FINAC 'expert' in the phone department assured us would work with our Iphone -- of course it doesn't without a special adapter but I didn't know that until I had opened the package. Now bought the expensive additional adapter and all is well but annoying.
