How is luggage doing at CDG these days?

In early September we are flying Delta from US to Naples Italy connecting thru CDG. We have 6 hour layover. I’m trying to fit 3 weeks of clothes, etc in my roll aboard, as I’m worried about checking a bag and it never leaving CDG. How are they doing with baggage currently?
Also, Delta has allowed my roll aboard for years with no problems, but when I look at the Air France baggage size limits, theirs are slightly smaller than Delta’s. Is this going to be a problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!

marylinne, I know they had a strike at CDG in July and it affected luggage but I believe it has mostly been resolved. I haven't read or heard about any problems.

I flew from MSP to CDG to BER in late April (and returned in late May) and decided to check my bag both ways because of the Air France leg. it was the same situation as yours - it fit the Delta limits but not AF. I checked around and a few people said that it would be okay, but others had a difference experience. Ultimately, I decided to play it safe and check the bag. I had no problems with retrieval in either direction. I did make sure to pack all valuables and 1-2 changes of clothing in my carry-on

One thing you might want to do (if you check it) is buy an AirTag from Apple. I bought one for my checked bag and it was such a relief knowing where it was at all times. There are others here who have done the same thing and it really is helpful. They're only $29 and worth every penny. You do need an iPhone to be able to check the status.

FYI, I'm a Cincinnati girl and was just there in April for my niece's wedding. I love the new addition to the airport! Of course every time I go back, there are more new things to see (and confuse me). :)

How close ( or how much over) is your bag to the Air France size?

If you are a half inch over and have a gate agent in a bad mood...... who knows

Edited to delete comment made moot by OP supplying additional info.

Thanks Mardee, I appreciate your thoughts.
Joe, This is my 11th trip to Europe, so I have a fair amount of experience packing and in doing laundry in hotel bathroom sinks. I am basically following Rick Steves packing list and everything fits in my roll aboard. My question was, what is the baggage situation at CDG currently, as I know it was a mess late June, early July. I also want to know how picky Air France is on the size of my roll aboard. Both my husband’s and mine are slightly bigger (about an inch ) in 2 of the 3 dimensions...it has never been an issue on all our Delta flights (domestic and international) but I have never changed planes from Delta to Air France at CDG with a roll aboard.

i will tell you that AF sized my carryon (a little 15" Delsey - I had already checked a bag) back in October..... the plane, ftr, was HALF full, I had my own row (never to occur again, c'est la vie) so don't be surprised...

HI There, I flew in and out of CDG in early and late June 2022 and had very fast and efficient luggage experiences. I have flown both Air France and Delta into and back to US from Paris and I would go by their guidelines online as to the size of your carry on. Use the smaller size if there are discrepancies and you are on both carriers in one trip. Don't leave it to chance.

CDG was very fast for me in June on United Airlines (this trip I flew United). No issues whatsoever except on the way back to US Terminal 2A lost power and they sent us over to 2D. It took about an extra half hour but the flight left on time no problems. Immigration was super fast, no lines, no waiting at all. Baggage took maybe 5 minutes to appear on the baggage claim carousel.

Hope this helps.

AF will follow your originating airline. I fly back and forth from US to France on Delta and Air France at least twice a year with a US-size roll-aboard. No one has ever batted an eye. The most they would do is have you gate check it for your direct Paris-Naples leg.
