How far in advance for the Catacombs?

We will be in Paris the first week of April, and I wonder if we need to purchase our skip the line tix in advance? Do they sell out? Or can we buy them on line the day before we decide to go? thanks in advance for the advice!

I can't speak to if they're likely to sell out a day in advance, but if it were me, I'd just buy them now if you feel that the Catacombs are a must do. I've seen awfully long lines of folks waiting to get in, and while it's certainly interesting and I'm glad I've been, I struggle with the "waiting in line to see stacks of bones" part of it!

The online skip the line tickets will sell out. Usually the ones to enter at a time in the morning when it opens go first. You may be shocked to see they are 29 euros twice the price of showing up without and standing in the long wait line

We did the “skip the line” tickets last year. We got there about 15 minutes before it opened & the regular line for tickets was already wrapped 1/2 way around the block (about 1.5 hours wait time, I think - there are even signs telling you how long the estimated wait is from particular points.). We were the 2nd people in because we already had tickets. Yeah, they cost a lot more but not waiting in line was worth it.

Keep in mind that the exit is about .75km away from the entrance so don’t be surprised when you come back out.

BTW, the Paris Liberation Museum is just across the street from the entrance to the Catacombs. It’s a free museum & does a great presentation of the liberation of Paris in WWII.
