you are already a bit late -- as soon as you get your dates, book your hotel. We already have our reservations for September next fall.

2 months ago! Seriously, find something in a good location in your budget ASAP and lock it in. Your going to find the best rooms/rates are already booked.

In my experience, rates never go down later. This is Paris, probably the most visited city in the world. Book asap.

I am going to be in Paris in May and booked hotel months ago,

I monitor prices and thay do not go down just as others posted.

I use booking.com. Some member like booking while others don't. However you can use it just for research and do not need to book through them.

As soon as they're available. I booked mine in December for May.

I agree with everyone else and will stay that I was late to plan for an end-of-April trip, not starting until January. At that point one of my "regular" hotels was booked for some of my days. I've had to book a few nights in another hotel to begin with and have been checking daily to see if there are cancellations but there have been none since my original booking in early January.

Do you have an idea of where you want to stay? .

pharmapad, if you provide a nightly budget in Euros we may be able to give you some suggestions. Do you need a room for 2 people?

Thank you…. I do not know a reasonable price, my guess in the area of 300 a night for 2 people… hoping it to be clean and safe, and we don’t need anything too fancy

I am staying in the 5th which I believe is close to the Sorbornne.

You still might get something for $300 a night for two but also might need to go a bit higher.

Be certain to get free cancellation so that you can keep shopping and maybe find a better deal.

There are still vacancies out there but at a higher rate

Here are some hotels to consider that will have nearby metro stations and bus stops and lots of cafes, restaurants and shops. You would also be within 10-25 minutes walking distance of Notre Dame.

In the Saint Germain area:

Hotel Left Bank Saint Germain

Hotel la Villa Madame near Luxembourg Gardens

In the Latin Quarter near the Sorbonne

Hotel Jardin de Cluny

Hotel Minerve

Pay attention to room sizes as they are typically small. Also, some hotels have rooms with walk-in showers and some have bath tubs with a handheld shower wand.

Enjoy your stay in Paris.

It very much makes a difference as to when you plan to arrive. I just made reservations for 3 weeks from now. But I'm also working on dates for July when I'll have family in tow.

I find it helps to deal direct, and preferably with a place you have stayed in before. Return customers do get preferred treatment.
