How can I search for specific topics on the forum?
It evaded me for the longest time too, then I realized at the top of the forum page above home/travel forum/country of choice is a light gray search bar. It was hiding right in front of my eyes!
Depending on your device, there is a search for the whole site upper left. After you type in something and hit search, you will get choices to narrow down to forum.
Thanks and it was right in front of my and I looked all over for it
You can also use a search engine such as Google which often does a better job of searching, allows filtering by date, etc
To use Google, for example simply use the Google search engine as put in
search-term site:community.ricksteves.com
Where search-term is the word or phrase you want to find. Put it in quotes if it is the exact words and order you have in mind
If you have a sub-forum in mind just extent the site name, such as making it community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/greece
I was also confused!
Perhaps the webmaster can pass on the message to I.T. that they should add a "search forum" bar?
I have looked and failed to see that so many times - the webmaster should look at maybe putting the search button in the usual place for a forum top right
it's pretty large ...
You can search, but not filter....which is maddening
Kkitelin - I agree. My first thought on reading the question was: with great frustration. The results are haphazard and often useless, with the top hits going back years and years. I will try John's method. It used to work very well, then after big revamp of the forum site, it didn't. I'll give it another go now.
