how do i travel from bordeaux to sarlat?

We plan to be in Sarlat for several days and are traveling from Paris to Bordeaux on a Sunday. Buses seem to be faster than the trains due to changes. Do buses run on Sunday?

I would rent a car in Bordeaux so you can drive around all of the fabulous villages of the Dordogne !

Look at les-plus-beaux-villages-de-France.org to see all of the lovely locations to visit ! Like La Roque Gageac and Beynac and Belves and Urval and Siorac.....

Would definitely rent a car. There is so much to see near Sarlat that is only accessible by car - Font de Gaume, Domme, Le Roque Gageac, Beynac just to mention a few places

Another vote for getting a car. La Roque St. Christophe was another prehistoric site that we enjoyed, in addition to the ones mentioned by others.

Yes, the rail replacement buses do run on Sunday (and require an additional connection at Bergerac). Looking Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the Deutsche Bahn train schedule link and tips for using it.

I also lean toward car rental and see that those at Bordeaux train station generally are open Sunday (not something you can assume), with maybe just an hour break for lunch.

I went by car. It's good to have a car in the area, nice country roads and pleasant driving.

Another vote for renting a car! Driving is easy in that area. We did it last year.
