No please don’t do that. All you do is when you arrive is follow the signs to the official Paris taxi stand, and you will get a cab quickly. If there’s a line, it moves fast. It’s also a fixed price from cdg to the right or left bank. (Ignore anyone you encounter on the way to the line who asks if you’d like a ride.)

I’m a huge fan of the G7 app but leaving CDG is the only time you don’t want or need to use it.

Thanks - I never have before, and it's always worked out. I'm just slightly more nervous this time because we need to get to a train station on time, but we should have plenty of time. Any tips on making absolutely sure they will take a credit card before we leave the airport?

Just ask the driver (that’s what we did) before you get in. If they say no, which I can’t imagine, just ask for another taxi. There’s a taxi captain (I don’t know the official title) at the front of the line directing people to the next cab, so you’ll have a point of contact.

I think trying to find a specific driver seems a lot more hectic than getting in the taxi line.

We used the G7 app throughout Paris (except from CDG) in April. Everyone including our driver from the airport was so professional, cars were pristine and everyone took credit cards.

Under the law, they are all supposed to have a working credit card machine. But I just always ask and if they say no, I walk onto the next cab. At least once a driver has suddenly remembered that his machine was working (I kept walking.)

the last two times we have gotten taxis at CDG there has been no line, we just walked up the line space and were immediately put in a cab. On other occasions we have not waited more than about 15 minutes. And it is right at the terminal so not walking a long distance for a hired car.

I once called G7 to book a cab TO CDG but the person on the phone misunderstood and thought I was booking FROM CDG. He told me that I should just take a taxi from the line. They don't book rides from the airport except when a special need is present e.g. they have vans with car seats for small kids for example.

@janetravels … the advice is unanimous - I think part of the confusion that G7 itself advertises that you should do this, even though in practice it doesn’t seem to be quite the best idea.

At least 3 times before you leave, use the United website Flight Status tab to look at your flight number "yesterday." It will give the arrival info, which can change.

Well, we've helped you figure out you don't need/want to pre-reserve a taxi, so you don't “need” to know your arrival terminal.

But United always arrives at Terminal 1. It is some distance from the other terminals and used only by United and Lufthansa.
