How can I get Paris Museum Pass in advance to reserve Louvre timed entry?

I'd like to get and use a Paris Museum Pass to enter the Louvre and reserve a timed entry in advance of my August 2021 trip. I found I can buy the pass online and pick it up free when I arrive, but see no way to get the pass # in advance. I can also spend a bunch of money to have the pass sent to me in United States, but no guarantee as to when it would arrive. Does anyone know how to pay for a Paris Museum Pass in advance and get the pass # in advance, while still picking up the physical pass in Paris? (Or will the Louvre have plenty of open spots and I can just reserve timed entry on line a day or two ahead once I arrive???)

You can use any group of numbers, I believe, when reserving Louvre time. We used birthdates and had reservation well before buying pass at CDG.

We did exactly this (ordering the Paris Museum Pass in advance), and for the same reason (to get a timed entry into the Louvre). We paid to have it shipped to us in Canada, and it arrived in about 1-2 weeks. I can't remember the cost, but it was not unreasonable. Then when you have the pass numbers you can go onto the Louvre.fr website and book a timed entry using the pass numbers.

You could order the pass and have it sent to your Paris hotel. Much lower postal costs and faster delivery. I have done this, but it wasn't recently.

I finally found the answer on a post from Suzanne from Minneapolis. This worked for me!!!!!

First, make sure when you create your personal account on the Louvre website that you include your telephone number on the page that asks for your basic info: name, address, etc. --even though there is no asterisk indicating that this number is required.

Once your account is set up and you are ready get your timed entry ticket, go to home page and click on "Buy advance tickets". Scroll down to "Paris Museum Pass holders" option. (Don't click on "Individual Tickets" option, which won't get you what you need and requires payment.) Go directly to the "PMP Holder" option--even if you don't intend to buy your pass until you get to Paris.

Then pick the date, time, and number of tickets you want. Then they'll ask you for the first and last name for each ticket holder, as well as a "N de Series". Obviously without having your pass in hand yet, you won't have a series number to enter in there. But when I put my cursor in the empty box, I noticedto the right of the box was a little head with a down arrow. When I clicked on that, the only drop-down option was actually my cellphone number, so I clicked on that, which it accepted.

One very simple option is avoid the museum pass and just purchase tickets for the entry time you like. It's done online - no further expense. Either way, you only are allowed entry one time.

Unless you just want to see how many museums you can walk into during the short life of the pass, for many it makes good sense and costs less to pay as you go.

Just an addition to the Suzanne from Minneapolis instructions: if you're going to buy a French SIM card, the phone number will be a French phone number that is not the same as your regular cell phone number. Thus, if you provide your regular cell phone number when you do these instructions ahead of time, you will not receive a contact when you are in France with your new SIM card.

If you used this method and have already been to the Louvre, did you have any problems with entry?
