Hours for Mont St Michel abbey in August?? Is Rick Steves wrong about this?

Rick Steves's Normandy book (excerpted from Rick Steves' France 2014) states that the abbey is open until 23:00 in July and August. The official website, http://www.ot-montsaintmichel.com/en/visite-mont-saint-michel.htm, states that the abbey is open only until 19:00 in August:
The abbey is open every day except the 1st of january, the 1st of may and the 25th of december.
- from 2 may to 31 august : 9 am to 7 pm, last admission at 6 pm.

IS RICK STEVES WRONG???

I have planned my trip using the Rick Steves info. I hope he's not wrong.

Stuff happens. I'd let the website be my guide.

I'd go by what the official website states as that will be the most current information.

Misprint (if that's the case) aside? It's not a good idea to use a guidebook - especially an outdated one - for hours, entry fees and other variables. Official websites are always the best resources for checking details which can change overnight.

yay! Thank you Kathy and Laura; I would not have thought to look into the pages/sites that you found the info. This posting was worth it!

LOL, thank Laura! Her information had me digging a little deeper! :O)

It's still a good idea to check websites though. As thorough as the good folks at RS are, they just can't help it if there's a change in hours, prices, etc. after a book has gone to press. Same with any guidebook.

Also take a peek at the helpful "Guidebook Updates" section to see what changes may be noted?

Enjoy the Abbey!
