Hi Forum friends, My friend and I are travelling to Arles and Avignon (3 nights in each) in April and it's been hard to track down hotels that offer twin beds instead of doubles. We'd really prefer not to share. Any favorites folks can recommend that offer a two-bed option? Thanks!
Have you tried using Booking.com to search? After putting in your location and dates and searching for 2 people/1 room, there is a filter (on the left hand side) for twin bed option. You don't need to book using that site but it should give you an idea of properties that offer twins. I did a dummy search in mid-April in Arles and it showed 70 properties with twin bed rooms. Also only people who have stayed at a property can leave a review on that site, which I find helpful. Good luck!
I hear that! This is the situation in which I use booking.com to identify hotels that have twin rooms. I prefer to book directly with the hotel (unless it's some international chain hotel, and I can get a better price somewhere else), but Booking does a great job of specifying what beds are going to be in the room. Also, it includes B&B-type accommodation. Of course, I double check with the hotel's website, and I triple check by adding a comment in my booking inquiry that I want two beds, pushed apart. I learned that on the first night of a three-week trip when a friend and I were in twin beds that were pushed together. AWKward.
older hotels may have very small double beds so we book twin rooms if we cannot confirm that the double bed is at least 160 cm which is sort of Queen Size. We have never found hotels that don't offer twin rooms. On booking.com you look for one room, two persons, two beds and you should screen for that and availability and then call or go to the hotel website. Lots of hotels also make up double beds from two singles made up together and can easily make the room a twin room if preferred.
I've stayed at Le Calendal in Arles before and they do have twin rooms. I was a solo traveler so did not stay in one myself. In looking at the pictures on the website under Calendal Focus, there are some that show the twin configuration. They are only inches apart as there are bedside shelves that only permit a certain bed width...if that makes sense.

The location of this hotel is awesome. Right out the front door is the Roman theater ruins and just to the right is the Roman arena. There are no elevators. On my floor (1st floor of the annex building) there was also an intermediate short up and down of maybe 4 steps.
