Hello,
Any you had any hotel recommendation close to Mont Saint-Michel ?,
I'll really appreciate your help.
We stayed at Hotel Le Relais du Roy last May. It’s located almost at the end of the road right before the causeway that takes you to MSM. The shuttle bus stops right in front and there’s a small shopping center across the street that sells food and souvenirs. I would recommend it.
I tried to make a reservation but they don't have nothing available for the dates I'm going to be there.
Trip Advisor list 16 hotels in the MSM area. Have you tried all of them?
What I meant was the Hotel Le Relais du Roy last May is sold out for the dates I tried to make my reservation.
I'm looking into maybe make a reservation Hôtel Vert Mont Saint Michel any thoughts ?
This question may be out off topic from my original question. I'm driving from Paris to Mont Saint Michel do I need to leave the car in the hotel and take the bus or can I drive and leave the car outside of Mont Saint Michel? (this is my first time on this area)
We have not been there yet but have a trip planned for Sept. We have 1 night booked at Hotel Vert for our visit to MSM.
As I understand it- you need to call the hotel before your arrival to get the code for the access gate which allows you in to park in their lot. (4 euros) You will leave your car parked there and take a shuttle bus (just in front of hotel) to MSM.

stayed at Hotel Le Relais du Roy 2 years ago. Basic hotel, nothing to write home about. But their restaurant serves great food! Literally one of the best meals I've ever had in France. Whether you eat there or elsewhere, eat early; most restaurants expect you to be seated by 7pm or so since there is just a tourist crowd and not that many people staying in the vicinity.
You can stay at any hotel in that strip, I think which one you choose doesn't matter much. Each will give you a code that allows you to go thru the gate and park near their hotel.
Luis, too bad Relais du Roy is full. I think there’s a Mercure Hotel next to it. We drove from Paris as well but you aren’t allowed to drive on the causeway connecting the mainland to MSM which is why they provide the shuttle bus. There’s a private road that takes you to the hotels that you access with a gate code. You’ll park your car at your hotel.
We stayed at
La Jacotière and it was perfect. A view of MSM, walking distance (or near the shuttle), wonderful breakfast.
I stayed a few years ago in b&b Le Rayon de Soleil in Bas Courtils some 10 minutes driving from the parking / shuttle bus. With 45€ for two persons/night with breakfast really good value for the money and with the money safed you can have diner at the island for instance.
There are a lot of hotels in the area, most were more like American motels than hotels. I stayed at a hostel in Cancale. It was probably 30 minutes away, cost about 25 euros and included breakfast. The building is probably from the 70's, has a great view of the bay and the people who run the place seem like 60's hippies. It was great.
Try La Jacotière, it's on the mainland but has fabulous views of the island, and it's only a five minute walk to the shuttle.
I agree with T. And Renee, you must take a look at La Jacotière. It is off the main (and very touristy and, frankly, not charming) strip of road that leads up to the Mont St. Michele tram ride/causeway. Once you park your car at this old, restored farmhouse B&B, it is a pleasant, safe walk of only a couple minutes to get back to the touristy area with the restaurants and tram. This may be hard to picture, but you will love it: the B&B is located on a short road leading to the touristy area/tram stops/restaurants, but (and here is the beautiful part) the connecting road is blocked off to cars. That means the only people in the area are guests of the B&B, so it is secluded and quiet yet close and convenient. If you choose to drive instead of walk to the tram or restaurants, you can simply drive back the way you came in, loop around for literally a minute or two, and you’re back in the restaurant/tram area. The communal room is pleasant with seating (and I think I recall a fireplace). The breakfast was generous and varied and everyone has their own table, so, unlike some B&Bs with large communal tables, this felt more personal and private. The hostess, Veronique, could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. Her English was limited, but we managed to communicate happily, and she was really working on improving. Since we were there over a year ago, I’m sure she has progressed at this point. Her recommendation to go back to the Mont at night was one of the most enjoyable thing we did throughout our 2 weeks in France. There is a straight view of MSM from the pretty, secluded little backyard. Someone mentioned it’s not a close view, but no one has a “close” view since MSM is located way out in the mudflats and the sea. Both mornings we were delighted to watch the fog lift to slowly reveal MSM. It was remarkable and something out of a fairytale. While I was not inside any of the touristy motel-style lodgings on the main drag, I do not believe you would have any view because of the trees and parking area between. If you choose to walk to MSM rather than take the tram, it is probably a 20 minute walk from either the main drag or La Jacotiére, but it’s all flat. I cannot say enough good about this little B&B - it’s close, it’s inexpensive, it has a nice breakfast, the hospitality is welcoming, and it has a great view. Hope this helps.
Thank you jdeangelo that was a perfect description of our stay also. We had the room on the first door that had a little patio and offered us a separate entrance. We stayed four nights and used it as a home base for the area (Dinan, St Malo, etc). We went to the Mont on two nights. It was such a relaxing, peaceful part of our trip through Brittany.
