hotels outside city center in paris

Dear Travelers,
Would you have a suggestion what area is ideal to stay outside the center of Paris but at the same time will be vibrant and fun to stay . I have visited Paris a few times and stayed in the 6th district. This time I like to be a bit further away from the center.
Thank you for your feed back

Not sure how far out you are thinking but the 11th is a large arrondisement and is filled with locals and great food. Family stayed near the Popincourt Metro station and quite liked it as there is a great Marche close by and lots of good food options.

Thank you Clair,
I am thinking outside the city center. I however am open to the area like 11th ,15th or 16th. Any idea about the hotels not exceeding 300/night in 11th ? Thank you

We have enjoyed staying in Montmartre several times and also the area just east of Gare Montparnasse.

Do you mean outside of the Périphérique or outside the immediate center/ Ile de la Cité?

The 16th Passy/Auteuil is about as charming and Parisian as it gets.

Have a look at the Gardette Park Hotel. It's in the neighborhood that I stay in, although I stay in apartments. It's very reasonably priced and gets good reviews. This is far from the touristic areas of Paris. Having traveled to Paris for years, I like a slower pace. There's a lovely park (the Park Gardette...duh) just across from the hotel, which is on a quiet street.

The only thing not to like is Krugen crepe restaurant closeby. It's just awful. I tried it because the Krugen crepe resto down by the Square Trousseau in the 12th, is really, really good. C'est la vie.

Paris is a city of neighborhoods. You don't want to be in the suburbs -- there is no advantage for charm or convenience but there are many neighborhoods in the outer arrondissements that are not tourist but have charm. We now stay in Batignolles in the fall and Butte aux Cailles in the spring but I would not recommend those for someone just venturing out from first stays in st. Germain. But the 11th, Montmartre, Montparnassed (east) are great choices with character. And you didn't mention the Marais or Latin Quarter. Both are central and touristy but also nice places to stay with lots of amenities and Parisian charm. We stayed in the Latin Quarter several times in our early trips and also the Marais and enjoyed being within walking distance of so much of what we came to see.

There is a Motel One in the 12th we enjoyed last fall. Way less than 300 with access to the metro about 3 blocks away. A couple of good cafe restaurants across the street and a small sandwich shop between them with the best food ever. Remember from there it’s about 30 minutes to the center. We were there for a week just messing around we weren’t in a hurry to get places.

Checked 3 days at the end of June. 948. Way more than I thought. It is the middle of high times.

mmonajatire, I can’t comment on hotel prices as they vary by season, location etc. Booking.com is helpful for that research. My family stayed in the Citadines aparthotel near Popincourt as they were there for an extended period.
