Any recommendations for a moderate price ( Holiday Inn, Travellodge style) hotel near this station.
Thanks
Are you traveling alone or will you be with others? I know this neighborhood doesn't bother some people but I am not crazy about it. It's the first area I stayed in way back in 1973 or so, lol and it felt marginal then. I will admit to not having much in the way of big city skills. You're from New York so maybe it wouldn't bother you but there are prettier areas.
It's pretty easy to get a cab from your hotel to the station in a fairly short amount of time.
There are four Ibis/Mercure hotels adjacent to the station (both part of the accor chain). Both basic and good for 1-2 nights. Some basic restaurants opposite the station, good for an evening meal or breakfast.
If you are staying longer, I would stay somewhere further south, the trip to/from the station would not be significant compared to your other trips around the city.

If you are just there for a night and then taking the train out the next day any of the hotels listed in the last post would be fine. But if you are there longer, get a hotel in a prettier area. The city is well connected with public transport and you don't need to stay near a train station.
The Hotel Caravelle is on rue des Martyrs, just a short walk up to Gare du Nord. Very decent hotel and close to lots of interesting restaurants for your last night in Paris. A cut above the Ibis hotels already mentioned.
Avoid the Timhotel, we spent a miserable night there. An Ibis or other Accor hotel should be OK. But it's not a very attractive neighborhood or convenient to anything except the station, so I wouldn't recommend it except for one night to save time before or after your train.
Hi,
This is the area I stay in since 1987. There is an Ibis Hotel at Nord, actually 2 of them.
I'm recommending the Ibis on Rue Saint Quentin, straight out of the Nord station, across the street from "New Hotel" (you can't miss that sign), down the block, The Ibis Hotel is next to the Chinese restaurant, "Le Jumbo"
Staying at Nord is very convenient since Nord is a junction point for 2 Metro lines, the TGV and regional trains, the RER B, and numerous bus lines , ie to the Opera, Gare de Lyon, EuroStar, close enough to Gare de l'Est. if you're going to or coming from Germany or eastern France.
