Hotels Near Charles De Gaulle (CDG) Airport

We want to stay at lodging close to CDG airport the night before we fly home. Would like a place with shuttle service to the airport and a good restaurant for dinner and a good breakfast. Don't want an expensive hotel, just a decent middle-of-the-road place. Thank you very much for your help!!!

The good restaurant requirement is the tricky one to meet for airport hotels. Is there a reason you want to have to take a shuttle to the airport? There are hotels on the airport grounds, either in terminal or reachable via the CDGVAL light rail system. You can find a list of these hotels at http://easycdg.com/hotels-cdg-airport-de-gaulle/. I am not sure of your budget but I can recommend the Sheraton and the Ibis.

The Ibis is a good affordable option, right in the airport. Breakfast will be fine, and they also serve dinner though you could probably do better elsewhere -- maybe the restaurant at one of the pricier airport hotels?

I admire your caution, but if you insist on staying at the airport, I'd have a nice dinner in an informal Brasserie that opens early in Paris, and then take the bus or train to CDG. Of course you have to arrange late check-in to the hotel. Are you staying at an AirBnB or some place that will not hold your bags for your last day of sightseeing? Maybe a 9:15 flight (?) is different, but we just pay for a cab after breakfast at our last hotel, in town. (We've also used busses and RER for some airport trips. Eight or more stays in Paris since 1988.)

I don't favor hotel restaurants, even in Europe. But certainly not at an airport! Have you traveled much?

What Tim said. The food at the airport is grim; in fact the single worst meal we ever had in Europe was at the Airport Hilton at CDG and they were rude on top of it (I am convinced that the airport and the hotels at the airport hire only people who meet the worst French stereotypes as we have only met truly rude French people in those roles. Everywhere else has been lovely. The meal was also very expensive which would not have been awful if the food had been good but it was truly terrible (we are not terribly picky about food -- this stuff was dried out, over cooked, only palatable to the starving.

If you choose the airport spend the evening in Paris and head to the hotel AT not Near the airport after dinner. Make sure to alert them to arrival time and guarantee the room. Or stay in Paris and take a cab in the morning. If you are already in Paris then that is what I would do; if you are returning from elsewhere then spend the evening in Paris for dinner and the night at an airport hotel where you can walk or ride the intra airport transport to your terminal.

My niece and I are traveling together and will be coming back to Paris from Sorrento and Naples. We are flying into CDG at 4:30 PM after traveling most of the day and were hoping to just relax before our long flight the next day. The idea of staying right in the airport is a good one. We were hoping to just have dinner in the airport or else someplace within walking distance.

My husband and I have done a fair amount of traveling but I don't ever recall eating dinner at an airport - only a quick snack between flights. Thanks for warning us about the bad meal.

“thanks for warning us about the bad meal.”

Let’s just say it is not likely to be “fine dining” .

The night before an early flight I like to stay at the Novotel CDG Terminal, which is just steps away fro the CDGval train connecting the terminals. They have a nice breakfast buffet and the dinner isn't bad. Not as good as you would get with a quick train ride into Central Paris, but okay.

I stayed at the Citizen M hotel which is just a block or so from one of the CDG terminals (don’t remember which). I was also coming in on a flight in the afternoon and leaving early the next morning. Citizen M is a bit different than many hotels - lots of tech features, small but efficient room, a very comfortable bed! They really encourage people to use their lobby which has several comfortable seating areas and a kitchen/eating area. They serve some food, but I didn’t try it. Very friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed my stay!

I walked across the street to the Hilton for some dinner and, unlike the other poster, had a good experience. I ate in their lobby bar area (not the more formal dining room) and had a good sandwich and dessert. They were on the expensive side, but I enjoyed them.

The Ibis at CDG is our last-night choice (had a 7 a.m. flight and I am Not A Morning Person.) Dinner at Mickey D's in the airport was what you would expect, but at least it was reasonably priced. If there had not been a train strike the day we left Paris we might have stayed in the city for one last meal, but we felt more comfortable getting to the Ibis mid-afternoon rather than hoping for an evening train. And with a 7 a.m. flight, breakfast was croissants-and-coffee after we got through security.

I’m going to have to disagree with the other poster who said they had an awful meal at the Hilton CDG and agree with the other one who also disagreed. The hotel was great (American sized rooms and beds). And the meal we had at the restaurant was pretty good, better than anything you’d experience in the actual airport. I would never claim it was the best meal I’ve had in France but I enjoyed it.

I know someone recommended going offsite to find a cheap Brasserie but I know when I’m at the end of my trip, the last thing I want to do is wander off airport hotel property in search of a meal. I would give the Hilton or the Ibis a look.
