Hotels Lyon, Bayeaux, Rouen

Looking for hotel suggestions for May in the following locations.
Lyon, Bayeaux and Rouen.
Aside from price which I would like to keep around $150 or lower a night if possible location is my main factor.
A single room with a single bed is fine, I don't need AC,
I would like to be close the main site or train station where I can wander and explore the towns.
In the past I have stayed in hostels but no longer am looking at them as single rooms are often more than many hotels and I am not interested in a dorm room any more.
Thanks
Wendy

If you are visiting Normandy, I highly recommend driving. It is just not a place with sights well suited to train only. With that caveat, I can heartily recommend Les Initiés Hotel in Rouen. When I went there, I literally had to drive though the downtown pedestrian area (I worried I was doing something wrong, but I wasn't). So it is certainly centrally located with parking underneath the hotel. In Bayeux, you will find lots of recommendations with a search of this forum, but I have personally stayed and dined at Hôtel Reine Mathilde, which is really as close as you can get to the major city sights inside Bayeux proper (Cathedral, Tapestry, watermill, etc.). It is basic, and you have to find your own parking there. A local parking lot is a five-minute walk from the hotel.

In Bayeaux we enjoyed Hotel Lion d’Or. The lobby has albums filled with WWII newspaper clippings. Many of the Allied leaders, Grnerals stayed there. I still remember the delicious, warm rice pudding on the breakfast buffet.
Rooms were nice not luxury but more than adequate.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will not have a car. I will have completed the Loire and South of France tour prior to spending a few days in Paris and off to London. I am on my own and not wanting to drive.

In Bayeux I also stayed at the Reine Mathilde.

If you are not driving, I suggest a full day tour of the area. I went with Overlord Tours and it was on of the best one day tours I have ever taken. The pickup point is about 50 yards from the hotel.

In Lyon, I stayed at the Mercure Centre Beaux Arts. Nice hotel and centrally located. Walking distance to most things.
