Hotels in the 4th, 6th or 7th

I'm looking for a mid price hotel for late November, preferably near a bus line or Metro that is less than $300 a night. Don't need luxurious accomodations, just clean and friendly, near some breakfast spots and restaurants. Thanks!

We just returned from France, and stayed at the Hotel de Suez the first few days, and the Hotel Diana the night before we headed home, both 2-stars. I would recommend either enthusiastically. Hotel Diana is significantly cheaper, with maybe less luxurious sheets, but otherwise we had a large, comfortable room and a huge bathroom. They don’t open reservations until 2 months prior, so you’ll want to book a cancellable room as a backup.

Hello from Wisconsin,

No matter where you stay in the old part of Paris, you will be happy with the location. On one of our trips we stayed here.
Turenne Le Marais, Paris. It was clean, quiet, and safe. Our three requirements. This is Paris, expect small rooms. But we found the place comfortable. They either didn't offer breakfast or...we are kind of snooty, its croissants were bad. But Cafe Hugo was good.

Turenne Le Marais is near four Metro stops and their line(s): Saint Paul (1), Bastille (1, 5, 8), Chemin Vert (8), and Pont Marie (7).

Plus the Place des Vosges is right next door. There is a nice place for breakfast with nice toilets (my wife gives stars for toilets facilities, a star for each: a toilet seat (she has been to Turkey), clean, TP, soap and water, mirror... ). Well this place scored very high.
She was nearly giddy. It is in the NE corner of the square. Simple food with out the hustle and bustle of the city. Cafe Hugo.

Hotel Muguet on Rue Chevert. Only minutes to Ecole Militaire subway as well as an easy 10 stroll to the Invallides and Napoleon’s Tomb.

20-25 minutes walk to the Effiel Tower. Rooms are small but well appointed and the elevator reminded me of the one in Charade. Should be within your price range. Research to see if breakfast is included in price as it’s been years since my stay.

Hi again,
We also stayed at Roi de Sicilie, on Roi de Sicilie. That place was pricey by our standards, but in doing a Google maps look at that street, Roi de Sicilie It runs parallel to Rivoli, which is a major thorough fare and runs on the right side of the Seine, there are a number of reasonably priced places. Of course we have not stayed at any of them. But under $200 is certainly available.

Hotel le Compostelle and Hotel du Loiret.

We have stayed in an apartment near the Turenne le Marais and agree it’s a very nice location with great transport links. On my first stays in Paris, I stayed in the Odeon section of the 6th and like it quite a bit. Perhaps look at the Hotel Odeon or the Hotel de Seine. I’m not a fan of the 7th to be honest, although I know it’s a RS favorite.

Hi Catherine, the Hotel de l’Empereur in the 7th arrondissement was recommended by another traveler on this forum. We’ve stayed there our last five trips to Paris. Highly recommend, pleasant staff, clean rooms, great location next to Napoleon’s Tomb. Breakfast is very nice. Closest metro is La Tour-Maubourg.

I agree with Claudia and Donna. I stayed at Muguet in April and have stayed at l’Empereur in the past. In April I also stayed at Hotel Relais Bosquet which is in the vicinity of the Ecole Militaire Metro stop as well.

My favorite hotels are on Ile St Louis (little island next to Notre Dame) in the 4th and are in your budget.
Hotel de Lutèce, Hotel des Deux Iles and Hotel St Louis en l’Ile. Very nice hotels in the heart of Paris, surrounded by the river and amazing views. Many métro stations nearby.

Thanks, everyone, for all the wonderful suggestions. I am mapping out an itinerary for when the air fare bargains are posted.
