Hotels in Rue Cler

This fall my wife and I will be making our 3rd trip to Paris. This time we intend to stay in the Rue Cler Neighborhood.

We have narrowed our choices to 6 or 7 hotels. However, despite sending a couple different emails - one direct and one through the hotel website, 2 of the hotels are not responding to our questions. One of them is the Cler Hotel (a Rick Steves recommendation) and the other is the Royal Phare.

Has anyone has recent communication with either of these places? I'm wondering if they are no longer open.

Thank you,
Jim

What are you dates other than this fall? Sometimes small hotels do not accept reservations more than about six months out. They don't have the staff to answer every email or inquiry. You might wait a month and try again.

And they are probably getting many more inquiries than they can handle for earlier dates this year --i.e. for the Olympics this summer -- thereby adding to their workload.

I've never stayed in either hotel but Cler Hotel was open last April and it's been newly refurb'd in the last few years.

I will have to say I never noticed a hotel at Royal Phare...so much for my powers of observation!

If either Hotel Muguet or Hotel Relais Bosquet are on your list, I've stayed at both. I've also stayed at several more in the area. A friend always stays at Hotel Cadran.

Do either of the hotels have a FB presence? That might be another way to contact?

Thank you for your responses.

Can I assume you were satisfied with Hotel Muguet and Hotel Bosquet? Because yes - both are on our 'finals' list!

I have stayed at the Muguet, I liked it very well. I have gone over to the dark side though and stay in apartments now, however when I stayed there it was lovely, the staff were nice and the breakfast was good. If I were looking at hotels again, it would be on my list.

I’m curious why you need to contact them and what you’re asking. That may be the problem. If you’re asking for something special, it just may be that they aren’t going to be able to deliver.

I’ve honestly never contacted any of the hotels that I’ve stayed in in that area before I got there. And I’ve never had a problem. I’ve stayed at most of the hotels on Rue Cler. The only one I would not return to is Champs du Mars. I realize it may have been an aberration, but when we were there the front desk person was so incredibly rude that there’s no need to give them any money ever again. Especially since I think Mr. rude, was one of the hotel owners. if that’s the way you want to treat your guests I’ll stay someplace else. They also have rooms that are not as well equipped as the others that I’ve stayed at but charge the same price.

We stayed at https://www.hotelmottepicquetparis.com about nine years ago and would highly recommend it. Very affordable, comfortable (AC in room was more than welcomed/overused during early-July heatwave that year), friendly staff, and its proximity couldn't be more convenient to walking down the main market area.

We stayed at the Muguet, but it has been years, 2007. Loved it though. We had the two rooms at the top that looked out over the best views.

The only reason I contacted those two hotels was because unlike others we are considering - their hotel website calendar would not allow us to check availability and price. It simply said "dates not available" for October 24-28. I wanted to know if the hotel was fully booked or if the calendar had yet to open for the fall of 2024.

Another hotel which would not allow me to check availability and price responded to my question and said that their October calendar would open in June.

Bon jour!! I have stayed at Relaus Bosquet 3x..2x as a single..once w my niece. I don't always stay in Rue Cler area..but..it is a great feeling to walk out the door and have lots at your fingertips.. one of the best cheese shops just across the street..a fab chocolate shop on rue cler..a lovely food souvenir shop as well..and of course..many restaurants. The hotel has always been helpful with transports if needed..the rooms are clean..bright and charming..and breakfast is good. The 7th is a bit quiet at night..but that's not a bad thing. It is also just across the Champs de Mar from one of my fav restaurants le Cassis Noix.. it appears you do know Paris well enough..have fun..ck out Bosquet on facebook..they do include breakfast..

Well I just checked and I can book the Cler Hotel as late as December on their website so I would expect that the reason you can't book is it's full Royal Phare apparently has every date after June 30th blocked just looking at the calendar on their website. I assume they would open it at some point. (I've walked by this place and I guess it's proof looks are deceiving because from the outside I put it on my "nope, not there list" Now it's on the list because apparently all it offers are "nonrefundable"

Yes, I am very happy with both Hotel Muguet and Hotel Relais Bosquet. I'm staying at Muguet this fall for 7 nights. I have some more nights on the front end of my trip but am not staying at Relais Bosquet because their prices are still pretty high in that time frame. To me the Muguet has better linens...lovely sheets and towels, lol. The Relais Bosquet has a better breakfast as they have several hot choices. I'm not really a breakfast eater so that is not a deal maker or deal breaker for me.

On the hotel that won't let you book... I had that with my backup hotel. The days are all grayed out after July. I went ahead and clicked on a day and it took me to the booking website so I think there is a glitch. It just won't display the whole calendar of dates. I emailed the hotel about it but it's not been fixed. I now see 2 lone nights in August that have prices listed but all the rest are grayed out.

I punched in a few dates in Sept on booking.com and Cler was right there. Could be using third party for booking. Try it.

Thanks Carol and Lifetime Travel.

Yep ... our dates are now posted (wasn't that way earlier in the week).

Thanks to everyone for your responses. Very helpful!
