Hotels in Paris;London

We decided to change our Europe traveling plans at last minute to go to Paris and London. Where can we find Rick Steeves’ hotel recommendations from his 2024 book if we don’t have the book? Prefer under $350 (dollars). We stayed at the recommended hotels in Greece and Italy and they were spot on; and fantastic!! Please help - thanks!!

You could just download the book in electronic format if you can’t get a hardcopy and then you can see the reviews.

Don't think it is listed in the Steves' guides, but in Paris we have stayed right in the center of the city and have been well please. Check our the Hotel des Deux-Iles. It is located as centrally can be on Ile St. Louis. There are a couple of other hotels on the same street, and one of them is a sister hotel. Cross the river one way and you will be in the Marais -- cross it the other way and you'll be in The Latin Quarter. Walk to the end of the island, cross the bridge, and you'll be at the back of Notre Dame which is still being reconstructed. The Metro is nearby and getting anywhere is not a problem. There are several restaurants on the island. If you stay there, we can steer you to a great little place for breakfast as hotel breakfasts seem to be over priced for what one gets. We can also tell you about several places for lunch and / or dinner on the island as well.

In London, we have stayed at the Citadine's Trafalgar Square a few times. Very central location and many of the rooms are mini-suites and include a kitchenette so you can make your own breakfast or even a simple dinner if you don't feel like going out. I have no idea if RS recommends it.

We also always do well with Rick's lodging suggestions however found for Paris staying in the 1st arr. was a better option for us as it was located closer to what we wanted to do/see. I have his 2024 book and he doesn't suggest any place in this district if I recall. I would not however suggest the hotel we stayed in as we were not happy. So while it was an excellent location we "went rogue" and didn't use a Rick hotel and were unhappy. I would suggest planning out what in the city you want to spend your time doing and then focus your hotel search closer to those areas.

I can see not wanting to buy the whole France book if only going to Paris but check on the website to see if they have published a separate Paris guide, he has done that before. If not check with your local library as they may have a copy of the book for you to borrow.

Stayed at hotel Beaubourg. Perfectly located. Near metro stops. Rooms, beds, hot water, decent breakfast. Spent €210 per night

Have you tried the search option on this Forum?

See the 5 horizontal lines on the left side of the header. Click on them and the search engine will appear.

In Paris try the Hotel Muget in the 7th.

In London try the Lime Tree Hotel or Royal Horseguards

In Paris, Relais Bosquet. Can't beat the charm, location, staff, and rooms. It is our go-to place. Five-minute walk to the Eiffel Tower and the Seine, 1/2 block from all the restaurants and shops along Rue Cler, bus stops, metro, etc. We love the neighborhood and the hotel.

I 2nd both Relais Bosquet and Hotel Muguet. Muguet is usually a bit less expensive then Relais Bosquet. Both are well-located for my needs although others don't think so. A friend stayed in Relais Bosquet a few years ago and met Rick going up the stairs to his room, lol. Some of the RS tours stayed at Hotel Muguet last year, not sure about this year.
