Hotels in Paris

We will be traveling to Paris Oct 15 to Oct18 then on to Lyon. Looking for decent hotels that wont break the bank. Want something close to metro station and walking distance to some of the more famous sites.

Also what train to take to Lyon on the 18th.

TIA.

It is waaaay too early to book trains for next October. Oct 18 is a Sunday, so just look on the SNCF website for trains from Paris to Lyon on any Sunday in the next couple of months. It looks like the fast (2hour) direct trains are fairly frequent throughout the day, leaving from (surprise!) Gare de Lyon. Plan on buying your ticket sometime in the summer.

We like Hotel Lenox Montparnasse.
So does Rick.
Reasonable prices.
Full breakfast.
Great location.

Hotels are a very personal preference. You're going to have to narrow down the location you want to stay in and then go from there. The famous sites are scattered all over Paris. Many people prefer the latin quarter, St-Germain, or le Marais.

I love the area of Saint-Germain as it was so convenient to many of the sites like Notre-Dame and the Louvre. It was also very near a Metro station (Odeon) and there were so many cafes and shops within an easy walk from our hotel. It was a really lovely area.

There are hundreds and hundreds of Paris hotels. Please be more specific about your price range and needs and wants regarding hotels.

And the post from drjsw1 is very iffy and spammy. Please do not reply to it.

Hi, we are looking at $400 night price range, understand if we have to go higher but trying to keep around that range. Hope this helps.

That budget will get you some very nice hotels.

Hotel du Parc Saint-Séverin in the Latin Quarter. Smaller rooms (like most Paris hotels) but an incredible staff. Close to everything.
In your price range. Also Hotel Mayfair over by Place de la Concorde.

Lots of trains to Lyon - we just took one in September - Gare de l'Est.

Your actual budget shows that one man’s view of budget is another man’s view of splurge. Your budget is generous and you should find many good hotels.

I just looked up the hotel Hotel du Parc Saint-Séverin for the dates I need and it came back there are no rooms available, does that seem right this far in advance?

It's just too far out; they haven't published prices yet.
