We're planning a trip to Corsica (which RSteves doesn't cover at all) and hope someone can recommend a comfortable hotel in Ajaccio, Bonifacio, Solenzara, and/or Corte. Ideas, anyone?

Haven't been there in a few years, so I don't recall the names (also I stayed somewhat out of those towns with a car) but these are some ideas:
I would look into Booking.com, filter by amenities desired and maybe check the map to see the exact location, then look at the reviews and travelers' ratings. I think only actual users can leave reviews on booking. If you want you can also double check on tripadvisor to see their reviews.
Rick Steves doesn't cover Corsica, but there are lots of guidebooks that do. For Corsica I used Lonely Planet and DK Eyewitness.
