Hotels in Bayeux

Hi, we are looking for hotel recommendations for Bayeux in May 2026. I have never been and haven’t traveled much recently. I have searched some of Rick’s recommendations and am curious about Hotel Churchill, le Lion d’Or and Hotel d’Argourges. Anyone have any good/bad tips or suggestions for other accommodations? There will be six of us needing 3 rooms. Thanks!

I've only been in hotel Churchill's lobby but it appears very nice.
My husband and I stayed at Manoir St Victoire earlier this month and were very happy with it.

We liked our stay at Logis des Remparts. Well located, comfortable spacious room, nice breakfast.

I stayed at the Rhein Mathilde. I was in the Annex. Very quiet and in the middle of everything.

We stayed at the Churchill in 2018
Unless it has undergone major renovation I would not recommend nor would I stay there again
The breakfast was awful and the rooms were dated and uncomfortable
The front desk staff were less than friendly-bordering on rude

The location is good and there is parking right behind

We had a lovely stay at Lion d'Or in July. Car parking was a great benefit (must book).
Lovely room and great breakfast. Central.

I normally use the RS Guidebooks to choose hotels, but the recommendations change a bit every year. I stayed in a smaller hotel when I was in Bayeux several years ago (I can't remember if it was in the guidebook) - https://le-mogador.inn.fan/index.php?lang=en#rooms . I was travelling solo so I didn't need anything too elaborate. I found the room to be clean and comfortable and they served a good breakfast. The owner was extremely helpful in arranging a car rental, which was necessary as no one at the rental agency spoke English. Hopefully the hotel is still offering the same type of service.

I had dinner one night at https://www.restaurantlepommier.com/en/home and would highly recommend it!

I stayed at Hotel Churchill in September 2025 and it was very nice. No complaints. The breakfast was great and had many, many choices. I would say there again. If you are using any tour companies, they all meet in the parking lot directly behind Hotel Churchill. So that is a huge plus. I'm not sure what the parking arrangements are. I came via train from Paris.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Lion d’Or. Our room was nice and breakfasts were excellent. The Concierge proudly told us that many of the WEII Generals had stayed there in past years.

We liked the Hotel d'Argouges. We were there May, 2025. It's in an old elegant house. It's set back from the street and has parking behind it. It was quiet. The breakfast rooms and garden patio were very nice. The staff were great. The only downside was that there is no elevator so if your room is on the top floor it's a bit of a job.
