Recommendation for hotel in Bayeaux for October visit?
We liked the Hotel Churchill. Good central location and the hotel is well kept.
We stayed three nights at Hotel d'Argouges and loved it. It's essentially a small chateau. Great breakfast, wonderful staff, very clean, centrally located.
Last September we spent a few nights at the Logis les Remparts B&B. Breakfast was an additional cost, perhaps 7 € each (?). Comfortable room and a nice stay. Just a couple minutes walk to the Cathedral. A big plus for us was the easy, free parking around the perimeter of a huge park directly out the front door. The B&B sits above the owners' shop where we also purchased calvados, jams, etc they produce themselves on a nearby farm. Their jams we bought back for a friend have him dreaming of a trip to Normandy.
I second Hotel d'Argouges. We've stayed there at least 6 times and love it.
I suppose that depends mostly on your budget range and what level of comfort you want. Hotel Churchill is a good choice as it's centrally located, and many of the tours leave from that general area. They also operate a shuttle to Mont St. Michel as I recall. If you'd prefer a lower cost option, also in a convenient location, I can certainly recommend Hotel Mogador. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, and the owner is extremely helpful.
Hi, I agree with Denny, we also stayed a few nights at Logis les Remparts B&B, and really enjoyed it! I was shocked at how big the room was--I was prepared for "tiny"!! Great location, short walks to anything, and on a quiet park..... Owners were lovely people..... Have fun!!
Another vote for Hotel d'Argouges . It is in the center of town ( because I think of Bayeux as being small and walkable)
It is a lovely hotel and the breakfast buffet is very nice. We stayed 3 days and 2 of the days we visited bakeries in the AMs for pastry and coffee/tea.
I love Bayeux !!
Still another vote for d'Argouges--centrally located, great staff, and good breakfast--although you may want to stroll the town for a small coffee and croissant.
And another vote for Hotel d'Argouges, although from the above comments it sounds as though you can't really go wrong :)
My husband and I also stayed at Logis les Remparts B&B in Bayeaux and loved it. We were there in late September to the beginning of October in 2013. We hated to leave! The hosts were as nice as can be and the breakfasts in their shop downstairs were perfect. We highly recommend it.
