Helping a friend with their trip. We've stayed in Paris several times, but don't want to recommend those hotels to them.
There will be two adults, one teen and a 6 year old, so they need a little more room than the hotels we stayed at offer.
The last time, while our room was nice, it was so tiny, we had no room for our luggage and we barely fit on the toilet, seriously. Our knees hit the door. But, it's all good and part of the adventure.
So, I'm looking for any suggestions for an affordable hotel near the Eiffel Tower for Mid June, a view of it a plus! Rate about $200 or so a night for seven nights. Thanks in advance!
Don't know when your friend is planning to go but if it's in the next couple of months, it may be tough to get in to either one of these with a view for less than $200 USD. We looked at them and the Mercure' Eiffel had a standard room rate of $160 USD a month ago for May but I'm sure those are gone. We've opted for the Marais neighborhood and will do an Eiffel / Trocadero Plaza evening tour.: Both hotels are managed by same company: ACCOR and you can see all of them on same pullman website.

Thank you, agendavideo. Yes, I think at least $200 is reasonable. I'm going to see if I can edit my post. Thank you!
There's an on-going crackdown regarding vacation rental apartments in Paris. If this is their first time going to Paris, I would not suggest renting an apartment, because it's difficult to find out if it is legal. There are also other problems, such as not being able to drop off your luggage if you arrive before the apartment has been cleaned. The myth of "space" in Paris apartments is vastly over-rated, just so you know.
If your friends are staying for 5 to 7 days, and need a kitchen, look at Citadines or Adagio apart'hotels. These are legal, have more space - they are made for families - and have many locations in Paris. I'd suggest either the Saint Germain Citadines or Citadines Richard Lenoir.
Your friends will also benefit from having 24/7 front desk service, if they need anything, and the staff will be happy to keep their luggage if they arrive before the room is ready. Sometimes, there is free breakfast for kids under 12, but you might check on that.
Thank you, chexbres, for the tips and input. I use booking.com for all of our reservations, including apartments, and have never had a problem. But I will double check everything. I'm still not sure they need to spend 7 nights in Paris unless they plan to do sidetrips, but we'll see what they really want to do. Thanks again!
Hi Yolanda:
They might also look at hotels that have family rooms. These are usually two rooms that are connected. I have stayed a the Hotel Des Londres Eiffel. It is very close to the Eiffel tower and they have family rooms.
Thank you, Barbara! Good tip!
Hi Yolanda, another recommendation for the Londres Eiffel. You can't get much closer to the Eiffel Tower, it's just steps away. I've stayed there several times and the staff is always very welcoming. Your friend's $200 budget might be a bit low for that area and their requirements. Good luck!
Thank you, Donna!
We had an excellent experience with a B&B through Alcove & Agapes. We had a top floor penthouse room with a private terrace with a view of the Eiffel Tower in a divine Parisian apartment. Great rates, excellent communications.
Thank you, Laurel!
Another vote for Hotel Londres. It is excellent -- part of a group that includes the Signature Saint Germaine and the Apollon Montparnasse and all are very good with excellent staff. Although, I don't think that your friend will find a room for four there for US$200 per night. I don't think the Londres Eiffel has quads and two "chambres communicantes" will be more than $200 per night. Of course, time of year will affect the price.
The budget is too low for a roomy quad which is hard to find at standard prices. You might take a look at the Marignan in the Latin Quarter as they are a super budget hotel which does have large family rooms probably for close to your budget. It isn't near the Eiffel Tower but that is such an awkward location I wouldn't worry about it.
If it were me I would take a look at Vacation in Paris and see if they had a one bedroom or two bedroom apartment that would suit. Even a one bedroom would allow you to put the kids to bed and still have some social space for the adults. There are lots of apartments on VIP, VRBO, AIRBNB etc with a bedroom and a sleeper in the living room that would accommodate 4 a lot better than one cramped quad hotel room. I know I don't want to go to bed at a 6 year old's bed time and a week in one room would be difficult. You also save a lot of money by breakfasting and snacking in the apartment even if you eat most meals out.
Thank you, Janettravel...I agree. And good tips. Thanks! I actually found a couple I loved with Alcove & Agapes, but they were already booked. I know we're getting started on making reservations late, so will just do the best I can for my friends. Thanks, again!
