Hi everyone, we will be traveling through the Alsase wine region in July and would like to stay for a 3-4 nights in a small village. Something charming and close to the wine route. Any recommendations ?
Thank YOU!!
Perhaps this link --https://www.alsace-wine-route.com/en/alsace-wine-route-and-cycle-route-map/ -- will help you identify towns along the route.
Then you could use Booking.com to search for lodgings along the way.
Please note that the correct spelling is Alsace. That affects what you find or not as you do the research for your trip.
We stayed at Coté Cour Bischwihr just outside Colmar. It's a small B&B, only 3 rooms, maybe 4 by now - I think they were working on a 4th one last summer. So charming, very quiet, wonderful hosts. The only downside is lack of air conditioning, which would normally not be an issue but there was a heat wave while we were there, 95 degrees! It was so hot. And I'm from Georgia!
We took the train into Colmar and stayed at Domaine Jund. It is quirky, very friendly and inexpensive and it's a working winery. Colmar is a larger town so we did just stay there one night. The next day we explored the villages north of Colmar and then at the end of the day, proceeded south to Eguisheim where we spent three nights and explored both Eguisheim and the more southern wine towns.
In the lovely little town of Eguisheim we stayed at the Le hameau d'Eguisheim http://www.hameau-eguisheim.com/en/, I highly recommend. They were also a winery and the bnb is at their tasting room
We spent a week in Riquewihr and found it to be a charming village as well as a great location for visiting other villages and wineries. And that was w/o a car.
We also spent a week in Dambach la Ville, but I thought that was less centrally located.
We stayed in minuscule Kientzheim and the wonderful hotel Hostellerie Schwendi and loved it. It's not one of the terribly touristed villages, so we found it more charming.
