Adult daughter and I are looking at hotels and B&Bs in Rouen and Reims and getting overwhelmed with the choices. We're interested in city center for walking most places, but will have a car so parking is a consideration. We'd like under $150 per night for a 2-twin room. If breakfast is good, that's a convenient bonus. We're good with quirky, non-standard as long as it's clean, safe, and generally close enough to city center to not waste travel time. Kind of a late decision to go in May, so we're up against a deadline. Any favorites? Thanks in advance!
This is pushing the limits of your budget, but the Best Western Hotel de la Paix has a perfect location, the rooms are huge, and the breakfast buffet is an excellent value for money. I don't know about parking. We stayed there in September 2019, and would have gladly spent more time both in Reims and the Hotel de la Paix.
I have no basis of comparison, but I stayed at Hôtel Mercure Rouen Centre Cathédrale last summer and thought it was fine. Great location and great breakfast. To get there, I ended up driving through the otherwise pedestrian-only area, but then there was the entrance to their underground garage—so all was fine.
Reims--I just stayed 2 days (18-19 Feb '23) at the Cecyl Hotel in Reims. I booked the hotel weeks earlier online at 60 EUR/night. Nice comfortable place that I would consider a boutique one, convenient location.
I trained from Gare L'Est here, so no car. The hotel is immediately adjacent to city parking. ab
I am starting to plan a trip to Normandie. I have stayed in several Mercure Hotels and have liked them all.
wineandwanderlust - we will visit one of the champagne houses but it's mostly for wandering.
