Hotel Recommendations for Provence

We will be doing a hiking tour through the hill towns of Luberon in October. After that we will train to some places and then get a rental car in Avignon. Recommendations for places to stay in Cassis, Arles, Nimes, Avignon and Vasion- La- Romaine would be appreciated.

In Avignon, I stay at the Hotel d´Europe.

These locations, other than Cassis, are sufficiently close as to be accessible from a single base if you have a car. You never want to leave valuables in your parked car. Keeping one base avoids travel with luggage and other valuables. From Avignon, you can take a bus to Uzès and Pont du Gare. If driving, you can include Nîmes.

I stayed at Hotel de l'Horloge in Avignon last year and really liked it. The room was comfortable and a bargain for its location and comfort. Try to book a room with a balcony which I did. It was so nice to sit out there with a glass of wine and hear the church bells and see the sites. The breakfast was very good with lots of offerings.

I highly recommend you try to catch the Saturday Market in Uzes. I really enjoyed the action of the market and visiting all the stalls.

Hi Leslie -
My wife and I have stayed and enjoyed theses hotels while visiting Provence twice in the past 5 years. All are recommended.
Arles - L'Arlatan
Avignon - Hotel Cloitre Saint Louis
Nimes - Pre Galoffre
Vaison la Romaine - Le Beffroi

Enjoy your trip

St Rémy-de-Provence is my favorite town in France, we stayed at Hotel du Soleil and loved it.

Hi Leslie -
I don't know if this is off-topic and frowned upon on this forum --- but if you come back and see this do you mind sharing what hiking company you're using (if you're using one)?

I'm interested in a self-guided hiking trip in the Luberon also and have found many offerings. ATG-Oxford is the one that most stands out but they've not responded to multiple emails.

TIA

Leslie,
We are using Ryder Walker based in Telluride. We used them last summer for a Tyrolian Alps self guided hike and it was wonderful. I highly recommend them. You can email me@ leswmotley@gmail.com
