Hotel recommendations for Bordeaux and La Rochelle

We (61 and 74) will be spending four nights in Bordeaux followed by two nights in La Rochelle in late October. We will be arriving and leaving both places by train so no car parking is needed.

We prefer hotels that are close to tram or bus stops and that have a restaurant on site. I'm disabled so do need a lift. I had been looking for an apartment stay in either Bordeaux or La Rochelle to catch up on laundry but have been having difficulty finding anything on Airbnb that doesn't have (lots of) stairs.

We like to be close to tourist areas but not necessarily right in the middle of the tourist zone as we like eating in small restaurants and cafes that cater to locals, not just tourists.

I would love some suggestions for hotels. Our budget is around US 200 per night (with some budget flexibility).

UPDATE: I have booked at Le Champlain in La Rochelle as recommended in another post. It looks lovely. So I only need recommendations for Bordeaux.

I am interested to hear what recommendations you get from this post as we will be visiting La Rochelle for the first time, too. Haven't booked a room yet but will look at what you found!

As for Bordeaux, I dear friend spent a couple of nights at this hotel: https://www.hotel-konti.com/ and while I did not stay there I met up with her so did see the inside. It's really charming (it's a restored mansion) boutique hotel, walking distance to everything and she had a lovely stay. If memory serves there is an elevator but if you need an accessible room, I do not believe they offer.

One website I always recommend those visiting the area is https://www.lostinbordeaux.com/
She always has the latest and greatest information on what's happening in Bordeaux and it's environs including restaurants, hotels, activities, wineries, tours, local events, etc. and she lives in Bordeaux.

Bordeaux is a beautiful city with so much to do. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
