Hotel recommendations at Terminal 1 in Charles De Gaulle

My husband is on his way to CDG tonight and while checking his United flight status, I was surprised to find that his flight lands at Terminal 1, not Terminal 2. We've been flying on Delta these last several years and for some reason I thought that all flights from the US are at Terminal 2. Since he has an early morning flight back to SFO in two weeks, I had booked a room at the Sheraton months ago but now I'm thinking that maybe I should look for a hotel that would give him easier access to Terminal 1 instead. Or should we stick with the Sheraton and have him take a shuttle to Terminal 1? He's a senior guy flying solo and he was really looking forward to the convenience of staying right inside the terminal the night before. Any advice or suggestions for hotels that work best for an early morning flight out of Terminal 1? Many thanks in advance.

Terminal 1 has no hotels. I suggest a hotel close to the "CDGVAL" shuttle train. The Sheraton could work but it is at the farthest end of that shuttle, so it is not worth paying the usually high rates there. The Ibis, Ibis Styles and Novotel are right next to the "Roissypole/Terminal 3" shuttle station and it is a very easy ride to Terminal 1, shorter than from the Sheraton. Be careful when you book: these chains have several hotels around CDG, but only one within, called "Paris Charles de Gaulle Aéroport".

Let me also add that if cancelling the Sheraton costs you anything, I would rather keep the room, as the trip to T1 will still be easy.

We chose CitizenM... funky for sure but a great vibe of fellow travelers.

Thank you both! I'll cancel the Sheraton and look into the Novotel Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport and CitizenM. I really appreciate your quick response which will give me time to cancel and rebook.

The Citizen M is indeed a better hotel than the Novotel, but it is a bit further from the shuttle train station, if it matters to your husband. Still very walkable, but maybe 7 min instead of 2. Whether that's a problem depends on his mobility and the amount of luggage.

Thank you everyone. He's going to stay at Citizen M this time around and we'll try the Novotel when return next summer if we fly on United again. I appreciate your help in sorting out the different terminals and hotels. It saved us a lot of stress. Merci!

Some comments for others thinking about Charles de Gaulle airport:

CDGVAL, the automated shuttle connecting the terminals, eliminates the advantage of staying in the Sheraton as it provides fast connections to the many hotel choices on the edge of the airport.
I spent a week during the summer at the Innside by Melia and was very comfortable. Its restaurant was superior to the several neighbours at CDGVAL stop l Parking. That stop was a five-minute walk to the Melia. Note that the terminals are unhelpfully numbered One-Three-Two.

The website EasyCDG is always helpful and contains this schematic map of CDGVAL:

Thank you for the hotel suggestion and for the link to the map of the terminals. There seems to be many good hotel options for us to try on future trips. We’ve always found CDG confusing and the 1-3-2 configuration confirms it! We weren’t aware so thanks for the heads up.
