We will be staying at an airbnb a block away from Place de la Bastille this June. Some friends (in their 70's) from Germany will be meeting us in Paris so we are looking for a moderately-priced hotel nearby for under $400 a night if possible. The Bastille is a new area for us and we'd appreciate any recommendations you may have. Thank you.
This is a wonderful area, overlook by too many tourists, and an area with wonderful local flavor and many interesting restaurants. Prices will be more appealing in the 11th (northeast of Bastille) rather than in the 4th (northwest of Bastille)
11th

Pricing and availability can change dramatically depending upon season, all prices should be confirmed. I recommend booking directly with the hotel.
I second the suggestion of the Hotel Bastille Speria and also suggest
Hotel L'Antoine
Oh La La Bastille
Hotel Paris Bastille
I stay in an apartment near Place de la Bastille and I love it there but be warned this is not the quietest part of Paris especially if you are right on the Place de la Bastille or if the bedroom of the apartment faces (like mine does) on one of the busy streets in the area.
Edit: I see that the prior response also mentions Oh La La so let's say that I second that suggestion as well as Bastille Speria.
I stay not far from Bastille and here are a few restos in the vicinity I’ve enjoyed:
JJBeaumarchais on the bvd. Beaumarchais is an excellent restaurant for a relaxing meal
Square Trousseau is a classic French bistro with a beautiful art nouveau interior
Ippudo on the rue de la Roquette is good for ramen
21G on the rue du Faubourg St. Antoine has really good dumplings
Krugen Trousseau is a few doors up from the Square Trousseau and has great savory crepes
Many thanks, everyone. We appreciate your recommendations and look forward to discovering the Bastille. We usually stay in the Marais, mostly because we enjoy strolls and early evening picnics along the Seine when all of Paris seem to be out and about there in the summer. The Bastille sounds like it will be as lively in its own way as well. Merci bien.
