Hi, we (2) will be flying into Paris, and just a want a room for one night in Paris, before taking the train the next morning, to Bayeux. Any recommendations of moderate hotels somewhat near this train station! We will be coming back to Paris later to stay in the city longer after this side trip. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! Karen
Check out the Ibis hotel chain. I know there is one not too from St Lazare station and the hotels , though very ordinary, are perfect for one night stays.
I have stayed, several times, at the Hotel d'Argenson on rue d'Argenson. It's family run, inexpensive and I have had nothing but good experiences staying there. It's also fairly close to Gare St. Lazare.
Thank you so much for the recommendations! That gives me a good start!
Karen - check the train schedules for St. Lazare to Bayeux. I just went thru this planning last week and found that there is only 1 very early AM train to Bayeux and it has 2 stops and takes about 6 hours.
The better train station with many more times and shorter duration time are from Gare Montparnasse - we had a hotel near St. Lazare and have moved to a hotel near Montparnasse.
Karen, I hope that you are looking for your train schedule on www.sncf.com/en or www.capitainetrain.com/en. I have never heard of trains to Bayeux from Paris leaving from Gare Montparnasse. That is a big change.
Trains for Bayeux leaving from Montparnasse is a temporary measure due to construction on the tracks this spring.
All, Thanks so much! I just checked the sncf.com schedule--they have trains to Bayeux out of both stations--with two stops, taking about 4+hours...... Guess I have two options now.....
