Hotel Paul in Aix-en-Provence?

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Paul? Our Eastern France tour next summer ends in Aix-en-Provence, and I'm looking at different hotel options. The Paul is in the old part of town, and a double room overlooking the garden is about half the price of the tour hotel.

Elevators and air conditioning are not important. Clean, interesting, convenient, and a good breakfast are what we generally look for. The breakfast and "interesting" are negotiable, but preferred.

Thanks. Any other suggestions for hotels in Aix-en-Provence at under €100 per night?

Jane, we frequently visit Aix en Provence because our daughter attended University there so it feels like home. Personally we prefer to be in the pedestrian area or close by. This September we'll stay one night at Hôtel des Quatre Dauphins (which is an old favorite) before our apartment rental is available. We've also stayed at Hôtel de France, Hôtel Negrecoste and our old favorite, Hôtel Le Manoir (now closed). We haven't stayed at 4 Dauphins since 2003 but I believe it's been extensively renovated since then.

Darcy, 4 Dauphins is another one I was planning to look at. It's in Rick's book, but I haven't followed up yet. We're still trying to decide how long to stay in Aix.

We have decided to head back to Paris for at least one night and fly home from there. Otherwise if we flew our preferred airline (British) and preferred times, we would have FOUR legs of homeward journey, in one day. If we fly out of Paris, it's only two.
