Visiting Paris in August and would like hotel or B&B recommendations. We tend to like Rick Steves’ suggestions for a lower to mid-priced hotel or B&B. Thank you!
We stayed at Hotel Duquesne Eiffel in 2015. It’s very near to Rue Cler across from the military school on Avenue Duquesne. The room was small, but that’s expected in many European cities, but overall we enjoyed our stay.
I’ve stayed at the Hotel Beaugency on two occasions. First time on a Rick tour, second time on my own. Nice hotel, good staff, very convenient to rue Cler, Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, Musee Rodin, Metro.
We've stayed twice at Hotel du Champs de Mars. Rooms are small, no A/C, and two people have to be very chummy to get in the tiny elevator at the same time. But so what? It's clean, relatively inexpensive and just steps from rue Clear. The whole area is delightful, with a metro stop and shopping nearby, a short walk to the Eiffel Tower. It's a "top choice" in the RS Guidebook and I have no reason to argue with that rating.
I've read reviews on line where some people complain about the desk clerk being rude but we didn't experience anything like that.
Hotel Relais Bosque is also a good choice.
My strongest suggestion for a hotel in Paris in August is to make sure it has AC. I’m not sure where you’re from but if it’s from the US you will need it if there is a heat wave.
There is a good gelato shop on Rue Cler called Amorino. Remember this for a cooling snack!
The Hotel Muguet is a good place and a block away from the rue cler. We ate breakfast at the brasserie aux ppt each morning and cafe du marche for a couple of dinners. Loved the cafe culture and people watching.
We stayed at Hotel de Latour Maubourg. http://www.latourmaubourg.com/en/ It is right by the Maubourg metro stop and about 3-4 blocks to Rue Cler.
We too have stayed at the Hotel Beaugency on two occasions. We love the location and the desk staff is quite helpful.
