Hotel near Gare Montparnasse

Will be taking Rick's Chartres to Southern France tour in May. We'll be flying into Paris for only one night, a Saturday night. We'll be taking a train to Chartres the next day. Can anyone suggest a hotel near Gare Montparnasse that will take a one night reservation? Thanks.

There is a Novotel connected to the station.

Were I in your situation, I would go to Booking.com with Paris gar Montparnasse as a destination. Click on the first one that comes up and look at the map that shows a ton of properties in the area. Our basic standard is a rating of 7.5 or better and pick you price. While the Novotel is right at the station there are a lot of other options within a couple of blocks.

Have a great time.

When doing this (and its not unknown) I stay neat Denfert Rochereau. That makes it one train (RERB) from the airport when you arrive, and one train (Metro 6) to Montparnasse the next day - much easier than doing a transfer with luggage trying to get to Montparnasse in one go.

There are plenty of hotels right at Gare Montparnasse from the Pullman on the east side to the Edouard 6 on the north to the Ibis, there are two actually, on the west. Additionally there are plenty of great restaurants within a very short walk.

You can easily stay within minutes of the station and have all the services you may require.

We like the area and have stayed in small hotels on Rue Delambre nearby -- e.g. Hotel Delambre. The great brasserie of Paris are just around the corner on Boulevard Montparnasse and there are wonderful crepe restaurants around the other corner on Rue Montparnasse. There are other restaurants and cafes in the area as well bakeries and such. It is an easy stroll to the train station.

Look at Hotel Mistral at 24 Rue Cels, less than a 10 minute walk to the station. It is clean, comfortable, and privately owned with friendly staff. We used it for the same situation of catching a morning train and would gladly return. You can take the Air France bus from CDG to Gare Montparnasse and take the short walk to the hotel. If your room is not ready in the morning you arrive they will keep your luggage and ours magically appeared in our room when we returned in the afternoon.

Thanks for all the very helpful suggestions. Reservations are now made and confirmed for the Timhotel Tour Montparnasse. It's only one night, and not even 24 hours in town. So we're good.
