Hotel near Gare Du Nord or Isle St Louie

Hi all..I have friends who will b coming from London on Eurostar arriving at Gare Du Nord. Unfortunately they have one night and day in Paris. I am suggesting they take a taxi and stay on Isle St Louis..sorry about spelling. I have been to Paris several times..but in apartments. I thought staying on the Island would give them some great views..walking..etc for such a short time. But..all of you may have a better suggestion..I am open to what you might suggest
Thank you

I agree with you 100% about staying on Ile St Louis. It’s my favorite neighborhood in Paris, and dead quiet at night, unlike most other areas. My favorite hotel is there, Hotel St Louis en l’Isle. I also love Hotel de Lutèce, same owners of Hotel des Deux Iles which is also good. There are only 4 hotels on the island - i’m not familiar with the 4th one but i am sure it’s very good too.

The Gare du Nord area is not nice imo.

I’ll second Susan’s hotel recommendation about the Hotel Saint-Louis en l’Isle. We spent 7 nights there in June and it was wonderful, with just what you mentioned- quiet area, great views and good location for walking. They can also arrange a shuttle to pick up your friends at Gare du Nord. Earlier in our trip we stayed one night at the Libertel Gare Du Nord which was okay and served our purpose nicely. We had just arrived in Paris after a long flight and were taking the train to Strausburg the next morning, so we were really just looking for a convenient place to crash that was within walking distance of both Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est.

I would not recommend staying around Gare Du Nord. Not a nice area. Just 5 mins further south or west would be fine. Generally I stay in quiet neighborhoods like the 17th around Parc Monceau or 7th around Gros Caillou...Paris is massive and just need to look around and find what you prefer.
