Hotel near CDG with good breakfast/shuttle and Where to Have Dinner nearby?

We will be staying at a CDG area hotel the night before our flight back the US. I've looked at many options but can not figure out if there are any casual restaurants in the area by the hotels. We just need a clean, comfortable room, great breakfast and shuttle or walking distance to the terminals.

We also would like to find a restaurant nearby within walking distance. Does not need to be fancy. Even pizza is fine. Just something decent for our last evening!

I appreciate any ideas!

What time is your flight departing CDG in the morning? Also, have you already booked a hotel?

I ask these questions because, if your flight is late in the morning, you might do better to stay in Paris and enjoy some last evening activities and a nice dinner, perhaps a stroll. It's easy enough to get to the airport in the morning.

If you're intent on staying at the airport, do make sure to book a hotel AT the airport and not NEAR the airport. No shuttles involved if your flight is early in the AM. There are any number of them; the Sheraton comes to mind, but there are others.

Will you be coming for Paris or somewhere else?

You should book a room at the airport, not nearby.

Last spring I stayed at the Novotel CDG. Less than a 3 minute covered walk from both the RER station for trains from the city and the CDGval shuttle to the airport terminals. My room was quiet, clean and comfortable. I did not have dinner there, but breakfast was good.

We have always stayed at the IBIS CDG. The rooms are nice but basic. The food is good and it's about a 200 foot walk, most of iy undercover, to the shuttle to the terminal.

Take Jean's advice -- never stay 'near the airport' with shuttle. It is easier to stay in Paris and enjoy a nice dinner and then take a cab or the train in the morning 4 hours before your US flight. If it is an early morning flight 10 or earlier then stay AT not NEAR the airport. We have stayed at Novotel and they have a decent breakfast and are literally right at the CDG VAL station to take the intro airport tram to the terminal -- thus no worries about a full or late or unreliable shuttle.

I don't think there is anyplace for a good dinner at the airport. Our only experiences have been terrible. There aren't really cafes landside at the airport. There are restaurants at hotels. I have eaten at Hilton and it was the worst meal we had in Europe as well as expensive (expensive I expected; nearly inedible I didn't expect; it was 20 or so years ago) Thus staying in Paris and enjoying a decent dinner and lovely stroll by the river before bed is worth considering.

Holiday Inn Express for decent room, substantial breakfast included for a relatively low price. Dinner nextdoor at the Innside by Melia hotel, a Spanish chain with a fairly good restaurant for the airport area. These are on the airport rail transit system at the Parking R stop.

Another vote for the Novotel CDG. I stayed there last year. Breakfast was included with many choices of hot and cold items. I had supper there as well and it was very good. Just steps from the shuttle train at the airport.

I cannot think of a single recommendation that meets your requirements. I would either:

  1. Spend the last night at a hotel in Paris with easy RER B access to CDG. Hotels around Châtelet will work, plenty of great restaurants close by.
  2. Spend the last night at CDG, either at the Sheraton in terminal 2 or one of the hotels along the CDGVAL/Roissypôle, take the RER B into Paris for dinner.

Thank you all!

We'll be finishing our tour of the Loire Valley, Normandy/Bayeux and Giverny. We will be returning our rental car to the Mantes la Jolie station and taking a train either into Paris or on to CDG.

We would be open to staying in Paris but worried about getting from train station to a safe/nice area for hotel and dinner. Our flight is not until 2:40pm the next day so we have time in the morning to take a taxi to the airport if we stay in Paris.

We want a nice, stress-free end to our trip and although we've been to Paris a few times, it feels a bit overwhelming to navigate train/luggage/getting to hotel at the end of long road trip :)

With a 2:40 pm departure out of CDG I would definitely stay in Paris. Choose a restaurant, book a hotel in strolling distance and enjoy your last night.

What time are you planning to drop your car? There are frequent trains from Mantes la Jolie to Gare St. Lazare.

If you're okay with public transit, to keep things simple, book a room near Chatelet. From St. Lazare walk 5 minutes to the Auber Station for the RER A to Chatelet in about 6 minutes. The next day take the RER B from Chatelet to the airport.

If you don't want to deal with public transit in Paris you could taxi or Uber to your hotel from Gare St. Lazare and then taxi to CDG in the morning.

By returning a car at Mantes you are addingunneeded steps. Why not return the car to CDG. Check into a hotel on the internal rail shuttle line, preferably at T3, take the RER into Paris for sightseeing, dinner, a boat ride, and then return to the hotel and sleep late. You need to check into at 11:40.

This suggestion by Elizabeth is excellent. Plot a route well to the north of Paris, totally avoiding traffic, and return the car to CDG. Stay at a hotel on CDG, take the train into Paris for dinner.
