We have been told that the train from Sarlat to Bordeaux now is under construction, so we are renting a car from Sarlat to Bordeaux in Sept. We have a flight leaving at 10:00 in the morning, so we will drive there the evening before and plan to stay near airport and drop off car at airport. Do you have suggestions about hotels near Bordeaux airport? Has anyone done this before? Thank you.

With a 10 AM flight, I'd recommend staying in Bordeaux proper and taking a taxi or bus to the airport in the morning.

I'm traveling from Sarlat to Bordeaux in early October by car (we will have rented it in Bordeaux a few days before driving to Sarlat) to return the car the afternoon before our 11:50 am flight the next day. We will return the car at the train station--that's also where we will have picked it up--and spend the night at a hotel in the center. We decided on the Quality Hotel Bordeaux Centre. I don't think they have any transportation to the airport, so we plan on a taxi. We thought that being in the city and having a nice dinner our last night would be much more pleasant than an airport hotel, especially since we didn't have a very early flight.

Lois, that's exactly what I'd do, although instead we've stayed on the other side of the river, at the Hotel des Voyageurs. From there it was an easy walk across the river, or a tram ride to/from the train station.
